Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N1 cameras flash quit working. I have reset (initialized) it and the flash still will not work. I can use all other functions as long as I set it of "no-flash"

I never had any error codes show up. It just quit working. I had it repaired through Sony about a year and a half ago, it had been dropped while the lens was out, and it wouldn't go back in. They fixed it when I sent it in, but it was a very expensive flat rate charge. I may just have to invest in a new camera. This one is 4 years old but I love it.

It doesn't appear to be cracked. I will have to try to find a repair service other than Sony to see if they can take a look at it. Sony wants to charge a flat rate charge and I think it is too much,

Hi,
If your Sony DSC-N1 shows blinking error like E:91:xx on its lcd screen when you try to use flash then it is flash circuit board ST-129 problem as that will be replaced to fix the issue.
Part number of ST129 board is as follows:
A1151928A... ST-129 FLEXIBLE BOARD, COMPLETE
It is qualified camera tech job to replace it because camera will take apart.
Hope this info will help you.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Ok, if camera does not give any error code then most probably its flash bulb got broken, give close look to flash bulb on front of camera, a tube would be broken inside.
If that is broken, need to replace it, it calls Flash Unit and part number is as follows:

    147960111... FLASH UNIT

    Thanks.

hi

do you have a manual for that?

if i could only remember correctly, you have to press a button to go into safe mode for that. you are experiencing an internal error that requires a reset that can only be done in your cameras safe mode.

hope this helps.

Reset factory settings of sony cyber shot DCS-S650

Hello rkhanna,
Initialize function reset all data/ settings to factory defaults including date. I think, LCD Back Light of your cyber-shot is not working and its hardware problem. Contact nearest Sony repair shop.

hi there
you can try doing this and it should work and solve the problem for you

  1. Press Menu button
  2. togle across from REC Mode to setup
  3. togle down three times from camera to setup 1
  4. togle across into sub menu
  5. togle down from four times to Initialize
  6. togle across again to the sub-menu
  7. togle up from cancel to OK
  8. press center button to accept the OK choice
  9. Screen changes and so press okay again
  10. It should restart the camera
  11. Opening on the 'Clock Set' screen
  12. togle down to cancel and use the camera and make sure that you have the camera to flash, if it works try again in the Auto function.
  13. If it is still not working do not worry follow the steps again two or three more times, As this is generally a software error message and not a hardware malfunction.
