I need the circuler part (lost) that comes out of the burr when cleaning. Don't now how I could have lost it. The machine is a Starbucks barista burr grinder. I Bought it about 3 years ago. It might be made by Solis. The serial number is 79138 and the other number on the bottom is AZB 007007 A.ny thoughts?

Clean your burr mill before using it for the first time. Then, to ensure optimal mill function and durability, clean it regularly following these simple steps.
Always unplug your burr mill after use and before cleaning.
Open the hopper lid. Empty any whole beans from the hopper. Remove the top burr mill by rotating it clockwise. For better results hold the grind setting button while rotating the burr mill clockwise. This will allow you to clean the grinding wheel and the grinding compartment.
Clean the interior recesses with a soft brush. Note: Never use water or liquid for cleaning the lower grinding section of this appliance. BRUSH NOT INCLUDED.
Wipe the whole bean hopper, its lid and the mill exterior with a damp cloth.
The ground coffee chamber and lid can be washed in mild detergent and water. They both are top rack dishwasher safe. Do not immerse the mill or the whole bean hopper in water or any other liquid or place in dishwasher. Use only non-abrasive cleaners to remove stains.
After completely drying the whole bean hopper and top burr mill, replace the burr mill in position by aligning snaps with receptacle and rotating counterclockwise to lock it in position. For better results, hold the grind setting button while rotating the burr mill counterclockwise. Once the burr mill is in position, pull gently to check it is properly locked in position. If the burr mill comes out, repeat this step again.
Replace the ground coffee chamber and lid, making sure both snap securely into place.
There are many ways to clean oily residue from your burrs. You can order a grinder cleaning tablet from online stores called Grinds by Urnex. Some people use white rice but if you don't get it all out you will have rice in your coffee. You can take them apart and clean them manually but if you don't reassemble it correctly you will not get a good grind. I think the easiest way is to get some cheap light roasted beans ( doesn't matter if they are old ) but never use shiny beans because shiny beans have lots of oil.
Set the grinder to a very coarse setting, on a Rocky 7 higher that you currently use. You can turn it to a larger # any time but it has to be grinding to turn it to a lower #. Pour a cup of cleaner (beans, or rice) into the bean hopper and turn the grinder on. Grind the whole hopper through the machine. If you use grinds just a couple of #'s higher is all you need. Once you have cleaned the burrs you will need to grind some of you beans to purg the cleaning debris for the burrs and chamber. When you see no more cleaning compound you can turn the hopper back to where it was leaving the motor run. Once you get it back test with your beans.
With the bean hopper on, turn the grinder upside down. Rotate the bean hopper to loosen any grounds that might be holding the burr holder. Now remove the bean hopper and try again to remove the holder. Only the outer burr comes off, this way.
Try this, remove the bean hopper, and vac out the burr chamber, then put 1 tablespoon white rice in the burr chamber and cover with hand and turn grinder on, if the rice grinds, then your grind might have been set too fine. Turn the grinder towards fine until you can barely turn the burr nut, you will feel them touching, then turn course about 16 notches (do not use numbers, use the small notches around the rim), that should give you a great starting point for your grind.
Your burr is not locked in. You need to remove the beans from the hopper. Remove the hopper. Remove the burr. Turn the grinder upside down over the trash can. Put the burr back in only make sure that the burr is down. Install the bean hopper and when you turn the bean hopper it should move the burr. Then you can adjust your grind. Make sure that the grinder is running is your going to a finer grind or you could break the grinder. You can turn it to a coarse grind any time.
First, unlock and unscrew the upper burr carrier. Clean and check the upper burr by gently running your finger over the teeth in the cutting direction. It shoild feel moderately sharp. If it feels very blunt, look at the teeth under a good light. If you see a substantial "flat spot" at the top of the teeth, probably the burr set will need replacement.
For the bottom burr, clean carefully its teeth, and the entire area in which it is housed. Include the outlet orofice as well. You may find a lot of oily deposits within here, so just clean them off as best as possible.
When all is clean, insert the top burr holder back in place. Screw it down until both burrs touch, then back it off (say) 1/4 turn, and lock.
Put some beans in the top, and switch on. Adjust the top burr until the desired grind is obtained.
The ground coffee should feel like a coarse sand when close to the desired grind size.
You'll need to remove the hopper and grind out all the beans. Then, with the lock tab depressed (if it has one), unscrew the grind adjusting collar out of the body. Once it's out, there are three screws (sometimes only two) holding each burr. Remove screws and separate the burrs. Clean away! Be very careful putting it back together so that you don't cross-thread the collar into the body. Clean threads can help this. Good luck!
