Gateway Tablet, BSOD unmountable_boot_volume

1. CMOS does properly detect drive.
2. XP boots far enough to ask for normal/safe mode
3. Windows logo appears for a minute, then:
4. Gets BSOD: [UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME], then
5. I Boot from XP CD, Recovery option "R" (or install)
6. Then I get that there are no hard drives installed
7. It can go looping like this endlessly.

You cannot reformat and/or reload XP if the installation XP CD cannot even see the drive, as per point 6 in original posting.

    Gateway Tablet PC
    CX2610
    Intel Pentium M

I have tried booting Windows XP Pro, and Windows XP Tablet edition, both times, the same thing happened. The setup began initializing and it gives the option of repairing, or reinstalling windows. When I hit enter to reinstall windows, it tells me that no hard disk was detected and that a possible manufacturer diagnostics/setup program might need to be run. It never gives a BSOD, but the setup will not recognize the hard disk drive. When I restart, I can enter windows normally, so the hard drive is obviously connected correctly. Any ideas on possible programs used to make this work? Thanks

    I have a toshiba tablet --
Starts up -- but no harddrive detected --
I have an i/o error 01 so I replaced the hd ribbon connector -
    Still no luck -
I have tried to run fix-it cd's - no luck..
I have installed a different hard drive also -
Thinking that was the initial issue --
(the harddrive was the exact same oem hd from toshiba pre-installed for my tablet)..

All this started -- when my beagles were being jerks and knocked my tablet off the coffee table.. It work for about 2hrs after the incident -- but after that -- nothing..

You have to go to gateway and download the driver for the SATA controller then save it to floppy or cd then hit F6 durning install then it will ask you for the driver. This Tablet will not see a non-gateway cd if you have the one that came with the tablet then you are good, but if not you will need to do this for the current drive or if yo upgrade to newer drive. Hope this get you started, I had this same problem and I thought it was my motherboard was bad because it would not see the hard drive during installation. This fixed my issue with the drive not being seen during installation of the OS.

My Kocaso Android Tablet 4GB it loads to the android logo n stays there is there a way to reset the tablet

Hi.

If you recently had a modification on your ROM, you may be experiencing a BOOT LOOP which is common to Android Tablets. A factory reset would be the best solution to that. Here's how to do it;

Turn-off your Tablet by long-pressing your power button. To be sure it's totally shutdown, wait for at least 30 seconds before proceeding to factory reset. If your tablet's battery can be removed, it would help if you detach the battery and put it back again before proceeding.

Resetting your Tablet to factory setting erases all the data in your tablet's memory, so you have to be ready to encode all contacts again and stuff like that.

Factory Reset Proper;

1. Press VOLUME UP and POWER button at the same time without releasing until the device boots to "Recovery Mode".

2. In Recovery Mode, scroll down by pressing VOLUME DOWN until you reach the option "Swipe Data/Factory Reset" or any equivalent to Factory Reset therein.

3. Follow through the succeeding menus until the device initiates the reset.

Note: If your Device has a HOME button (usually located at the Center-bottom of the LCD), the buttons to be pressed to enter into Recovery Mode are HOME and POWER at the same time. Release only after the device shows it boots in Recovery Mode.

I hope this helps you.

Reset rca tablet

You can perform a hard reset on your tablet 2 ways. The first is by going into Settings>backup and reset and choosing the Factory Data Reset option.
If you are stuck at the startup screen or a password/pattern screen and cannot boot into the system, you will need to use method 2, which is booting into recovery mode. Have the tablet powered off first and make sure you have more than 50% charge on the battery. Boot into recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up and power buttons. At the RCA logo screen, let go of the volume up button and you should next see an android image. Press and hold the power button and tap the volume up button once more and you will be brought to the recovery mode menu. From here, you will need to use your volume up and down buttons to scroll and navigate to the wipe data/factory reset option and use the power button to confirm. When the process is done, go ahead and reboot and your tablet will be set to factory original settings.

When booting, the system hangs at Windows XP logo. It does the same when booting (or trying to boot) into safe mode. What could be the problem and how do I resolve it? I tried to use the Windows XP CD to...

You can access the BIOS usually by pressing "esc", "F1", "F8", or "F12". One of those buttons

should work.

As for the hang up at the logo, it sounds like your hard drive might have crashed. The same thing

happened to me on my Vaio.

Startup problem

If you are getting a Blue screen repeatedly and you can't start up to windows in any custom setting ( from f8 start up menu ) one way to solve the problem is to Use the restore disc or windows installation cd or dvd to install windows into the computer or perform a repair installation if a windows already exists on the computer and the setup can find it.

how to perform a repair installation

this is for xp, but its similar on 2000 and on vista.

insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.

1.When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

if not then the computer is not set to start up from a cd, you can either enter the setup / bios to change that setting OR right when you power up the computer look at the screen it will say what button to press in order to enter boot menu or bios, it will very likely be button F12 or similar, it should say on the screen when you power on.

if it doesn't, then you need to go into the bios and change the boot order so that the computer starts from the CD first.

after that you should be able to start from the cd and install the OS (Operating system, eg.Windows)

here's some info on how to work the bios: http://www.whitecanyon.com/how-to-change-boot-order.php

Repeat step 1 when you have changed the boot order.

2.Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.

3.Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.

4.In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

5.Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

6.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

7.Ones windows is working you will need the drivers for your computer, they are at the makers website, for hp and compaq. www.hp.com for acer http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html for all other brands go to google and write Brand drivers. Should get you to the right place. Dell is most likely www.dell.com and so on.

Will not start up after system recovery done with disks.

If you have a Windows XP or Windows Vista CD (or if you can borrow one), insert it into the CD Drive and restart the system. Boot from the CD, and choose the "R" for Repair console.

Log onto the Windows installation you want to repair.

At the prompt, type FIXMBR and answer yes.

Type exit.

Toshiba laptop - Tablet with Windows XP

Greetings,
If we had a clarity on the OS you are using it would have been easy. Do not try to change the mode. Shut down the comp and then try to restart, as it starts then tap the F8 key on the keyboard. We'll get the option for Safe mode. If still you do not get through.
Not being sure why you want to goto safe mode you can always use a plug an play external CD ROM. In case the issue is not resolved for safe mode you'll need to repair the Windows.
