Brother mfc215c cartridge problem

Hi, took the printer to a dealer. Apparantly the print head has gone and it will cost more than a new unit to fix! And it's only 18 months old, and not used a lot!

Sorry to hear that. Brother's have alot of problems with this sort of thing. Just so you know, I even called Brother and they said you're model printer didn't exist. What a joke. I said if it doesn't exist then how come I'm looking at a manual on my screen as we speak for that model printer that I downloaded from their site. They still told me it doesn't exist. I said then maybe we're not really talking on the phone! Again, sorry about the printer. If you have any other problems or just need advice feel free to ask. That's why I'm here. Just for you! How about giving me a 4 fix ya rating for old time sake? Give a shout if you need anything.

Personally - I've always liked HP. It depends on how much you want to spend and what features you want. You had a all-in-one and that's what I've always had. There are several makes that are good really. Don't know how much I'm allowed to say. In your case what I would do is go to a few of the better known sites that review things. CNET, PCmag, etc and read some reviews. You can do a search and several sites. I've always wanted a flatbed scanner (never know what I need to scan) so that would narrow the fiels and wanted one that that was ethernet ready for my network which narrows thr field more. Needed paper feed tray for faxing and copying many page documents. I like bells and whistles but all I spent was around $170. Anyway, I write novel like replys - sorry. I imagine your likr most people and need it ASAP. If you're going to buy it at a local store(s) you could see what they carry and then check out reviews on them. If you are willing to shop the internet -I always look for the best price on the net -the world is your oyster. So process this info, if you have a question you by now know where to find me. Anything I can do to expedite and help with your purchase I will. Just whistle.

What is the cost for a printerhead

Hi, If you check the price of printers now a days you'll see they are very cheap, reason look at the price of ink, see. Now for you to replace the print head is not very good pocket book wise if you can even find the part . So buy another new printer that has the print heads built into the ink cartridges. And every time you buy a new ink cartridge you get a new print head. HP printers are very good using this print head built into the ink cartridges, and there are other brands too. Occasional use will plug up the dedicated printer heads very quickly. And printers are designed to be throw away and parts are next to impossible to buy. That's the way the market dictates this printer business.

Hello got brother printer hardly any use as its my dads all cartridges are full now when copying pages come out blank have gone throught the cleanng process out of warranty mfc 490cw

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, thenprint head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

Hi my black ink wont print i have done lots of head cleaning and replaced cartridge with a new one but it still wont print? the printer is only 12 mth old and i really dont want to have to buy another one...

Well you dont say what model printer you have but I suspect that it is either a canon or brother.
If it is a brother, forget it and throw it away as the cost to repair is more than printer is worth.
If it is Canon then you have a defective printhead and no matter what you do you will not get it to print the black.
The printhead is situated under the ink cartridges. Remove the cartridges and then you can remove the printhead. You can try steaming the printhead but it wont redeem it. Unfortunately the cost of a new printhead is more than the cost of a new printer.

When I print in color my printer only prints the yellow. I've tried new cartridges but still have the same problem.

Hi,
From the symptoms you are getting, its quite evident that the print heads are worned out with usage or have clogged totally.

If you already tried cleaning the print head / cartridge then there are only two possiblities :
1. The print heads are worned out with usage.
2. The cartridge you bought is faulty (less probable)

If the printer is in warranty then you should get it repaired by Brother for free. Else you will have to send it to Brother for paid repair.

To be very honest, these print heads are made of poor quality so that you need to replace them and Brother can make money. Thats why they sell cartridges at cheaper cost.

Please dont even think of sending it for repair to Brother if its out of warranty or anyone as again that will make hole in your pocket. Cheapest option is to buy new printer.

Regards
Mike

Black ink won't print even though the cartridge is

Hi,

It could be you just have a bad cartridge, If it's new, take it back and get a new one to make sure it's not the cartridge. If you get the new one and it still doesn't print black, then you have a bad print head. Meaning it would need to go to a service dealer to replace or repair the print head.

Thanks Mark

Can't get the magenta ink to print. I changed out the magenta cartridge after it was completely empty. Now I can't get it to print in that color.

the ink may have dried out in the machine. Take a Qtip and rubbing alcohol and clean out the baby pipe inside the printer that stabs the ink cartridge and sucks the ink out of the cart. This may solve your problem. If not, open up windows paint (press "windows key" and "R" then type mspaint (enter)) and print a large square of magenta to try and get the printer to squirt out any goo in there. The alcohol will dillute and dissolve and magenta ink **** in the piping. This may not work, due the amount of dried ink, but it usually does. If not, flip the printer up and let the alcohol drip down into the piping for a hour or so. use a qtip or eye dropper to get alc in the pipe. Unfortunately, due to the price of this printer (<$90) it is not worth repair beyond that level. Parts would probably cost more, if brother even makes them available.

Help

Hi, Unfortunately, this is caused by the printer head. It will gradually stop working. However, some things to try is to clean the print head. This is literally opening the printer and cleaning the head. Also, avoid using refill ink cartridges as they damage the print head a lot quicker. Get brand new cartridge if you are using refills. If this still doesn't help, then the print head have already been damaged and need to be replaced. By the way, if this printer is still under warranty, brother should replace either the printer or the print head for you free of cost.
