I am using XP Sp2 machine and have used IE and Firefox and both say that IE cannot display the page the error i get while access the site is " Internet explorer cannot display the webpage" although i can use this intranet site from other computers other than XP Sp2, so the issue does not seem browser specific,it seems to be more of an OS Specific issue, and i don't want to upgrade to SP3, i have tried this with both IE 6 and IE 8, and i can connect to MSn and other internet sites from this machine.

The hyper-v host has two machine an Vista Sp1 and Xp Sp2, i can access the site from the host and vista sp1, i cannot access it from XP Sp2 only.

If it helps i could access a site from a different domain on the host xp and vista machines. This has to be something XP Sp2 specific which i am missing and probably not enabled to this domain, if it helps this is a new test domain.

Go to tools, then options, and check your settings. Make sure java is enabled and make sure cookies are allowed.
You can also check the advanced tab under tools and options and check the setting for how ie is connected to the internet.

If you are not able to access the intranet site it sounds like you may have not gotten the computer joined to your Domain/Workgroup properly.

Are you able to access the site from the computer that hyper V is installed on?

Yea SP2 is really where they started to mess with the security options. As a test have you tried making sure the Windows Firewall is disabled. It is possible that the site that you are trying to access needs to have a certain port open that is closed with the SP2 Firewall.

I tried siabling the firewall and restarting the machine and trying to go the site and it still does not work.

Can't access yahoo mail since upgrading to IE8 and Firefox 3.5 browswers. I sign on to Yahoo, hit enter, get a page telling me to pick 2 Security Questions & Answers, I do so & hit enter again --...

Check the webpage address
  • Make sure you have the correct address for the webpage and that you typed it correctly.

  • Try entering “/index.html” at the end of the address.

  • Verify that your hard disk is working correctly, and if necessary repair it.

  • Reinstall Safari 4

    ===================
If the webpage still won't open, report the problem by opening the Action menu near the upper-right corner of the Safari window (looks like a gear) and choosing “Report Bugs to Apple.”

Unable acess web pages-error msg ie 5 or higher version needed

It could be that the sites you going to are specifically written for IE. Now most of the time this should not be an issue with today's web browsers, but some sites have a Browser Validation script they run and if it recognizes that you are using something other than IE, it will through an error. Try upgrading to the current versions of the browser (i.e. FF3). Don't forget Safari and Opera. They may work for you as well.

When ever i go to certain webpage a microsoft error page come some thing is wrong with flash player ie is using

So, tell us the exact webpage, write down the error and in the meantime download the latest flash player just to see if it fixes it. If you give details, maybe we can go and try to simulate it. And cure it.
