Question about Epson Perfection 3170 Flatbed Scanner
I tried to scan from a large book and the scanner got stalled and I believe I have damaged the yellow strip that you see when you open the scanner and which, I believe, moves the scanning mechanism back and forth.
Do you get any error messages (on the computer) or do any of the leds blink? If yes, please tell me so that I can troubleshoot and propose solutions. If the scanner behaves normally (just like when it was working fine) then yes, you need to take to a repair shop to have it checked and repaired. However, please ask for a quote before the repairing starts, it may be cheaper to buy a new scanner.

Ok, above is a troubleshooting guide, above that is a support document above that is a user manual.
Above is couple of, Service and repair manuals, unfortunately, it is a "Pay For" link, I was unable to find any free manual. You simply cannot effect any repair without a service manual, as they have not only all the servicing data, but also the part Numbers to obtain new spare parts..
