To get a wireless internet connection for Xbox live, you will need a high-speed Internet connection such as cable or DSL and a router, gateway, or wireless access point (WAP) that is compatible with Xbox live. If your XBOX360 console is first generation, you will also need a Xbox 360 wireless networking adapter. If you are using a wired connection, you will need a network cable. Plug the network cable into your router and the other end into your Xbox 360. On your Xbox 360 console, navigate to "MY XBOX" and then select "system settings" Next select "Network settings" and then select "Test Xbox Live connection" Select YES when the prompt appears asking you to update your software. After you become connected, there are two choices: Free membership of Gold membership. yes you need a email connect thro modem or router eternet port or use a wireless adapter and find your signal in system settings ok now click on join live and it will walk you thro the easy steps to join
Make a new user profile and try to create and x-box live profile that way, ours got wiped once and we got the same message and that is what we had to do.
1) Go to xbox.com and make a gamertag from the website.
2)Go buy a xbox live subscription for best buy, wal-mart, and other electronic store.
3)Get a 360 first of all lol
4)If you are going wireless, go buy a wireless adapter for 75$-100$
5)If you are going wired, you will need a ethernet cable
6)connect your 360 with whatever method your are using (wired or wireless)
7) Turn on your 360, test the connection
8)When u done with that, go to "Join XBox Live" on panel of the 360 guide

Form your Xbox 360 you need to be connected to the Internet by a straight LAN line or wirelessly. You can test you connection by going to the setting screen on your Xbox 360.

First off (may sound silly) Make sure you have your Xbox connected upto your Modem via USB or Ethernet, make sure your Xbox is connected to the net by going to the dashboard then select JOIN XBOX LIVE then follow the on-screen instructions

If you think its the wireless adapter, try using a laptop (that has wireless) to connect your xbox to your network. ok, so if you want to do it wirelessly you need to get the wireless network adapter for the 360. i got mine at target for about 100 bucks. You also will need a Xbox live Gold card if you are wanting to play with your friends. you can also get your subcription over the xbox by using a credit card. The setup is pretty simple, just follow the on screan instructions. I am assuming your dashboard uses the "blades". if so, go over to the marketplace section, and go to join xbox live. then it will guide you through the process.
