Don't buy the card.First Try to install it's driver.Tell me sound card's name and it's model by opening Pc's cassing i will give the direct link of it's driver over internet. It can be integrated or Built-out card. If you can't do so get the help of your buddy

control panel sounds and audio,audio make necessary adjustments there or control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager,sound,could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers good luck
It sounds like you have reformatted your hard drive and reloaded the operating system. In this case, you'll need more than just Windows to make the PC work. You'll have to reload the drivers for stuff like sound, video, ethernet, and maybe some motherboard functions. There should have been a disk that came with the computer. But don't worry if you can't find it. You can download the drivers from HP's site. 2) Google the Card u need Shown There
