We have a Jenn Air propane gas grill purchased at Lowes almost 5 years ago. Has worked fine until yesterday. It will not get over 250 degrees. It worked fine just last week.

Can this grill be also used on propane? If so you might be running it too hot on natural gas, check to see if the control knobs have two different set of markings.

I bought a large 5 burner unit 5 years ago.

There are a few things you can check.

1. The burner could be rusted and needs cleaned or repaired.
2. A spider or other insect has built a web in the inlets of the burners.
3. If you are using a 20lb propane tank, it could be overfilled.
4. If you turn off your grill using the propane tank valve and not the valves on the control panel, it may cause the overfill protection device to engage and decrease gas flow.
5. The regulator could be faulty.
6. The jets(orifices) where the gas comes out may be sized to small or may be clogged.

Grill jenn-air will not heat past 100 degrees

You need to pull the burners out and scrub open the side feedholes on the burner. These ususally clog up over time reducing the heat available for cooking. Also, sometimes the Gas regulator goes bad over time when left outside for a year or two. A bad regulator will put out less gas as it fails closed.
