I have one of these (evolution MK 161). I have a Guitar Rig Kontrol interface with midi in and out. The MK161 has midi out. I run Windows 7 (64) on a Toshiba Satellite Pro. I play a little guitar but I want to try my best to get this keyboard working.

Hi... every keyboard has rubber membrane with two layers they are placed in parallel to each layer so you have two set of layers one after the other for each octave (12 contacts per layer) if contact fails to the PCB when u press the key or broken that particular key will not work!!! - I had evolution keyboard 49keys same thing happend and I could not find the spares here in india left aside... if you come to know the spares available anywhere please do share

Why are the Keys on my axiom pro 61 not sending MIDI messages?

Does your keyboard have a "MIDI OUT" port? If yes, then
there is a selection to choose between USB or MIDI OUT port.
For my M-AUDIO oxygen 61 (silver), I must press the [Advanced] button then Note F3 on the music keys manual to toggle the MIDI-OUT.
If set to INT, it will not sent via USB. If set to USB it will not send via MIDI-OUT port. To use MIDI-OUT port I need external 12V DC adapter.

    MIDI Basics

MIDI is the language used by electronic instruments to tell each other what to play. When you press a key on a musical keyboard this keyboard will send a MIDI message to a computer or a musical instrument connected. The message says something like: start playing this note at this volume. When you stop pressing the key a new message is sent which says: stop playing this note.
MIDI messages can be transmitted using MIDI cables or USB. Old instruments had MIDI ports (round with five connectors inside) so a computer had to have a MIDI interface. Nowadays it's almost all done with usb.
The important thing to remember is that a MIDI message (and a MIDI cable) are just an instruction to play, they don't contain sound. The sound you hear when you press a key comes from the computer or the instrument connected to the keyboard, not from the plastic key you have pressed.
There is a lot more to say, but I would suggest you check wikipedia first and then come back with more specific questions.

Have a Digitech Vocalist II that stopped reading the midi chords transmitted by my keyboard. Checked midi cords, all settings (keyboard and harmonizer). And the inside of the digitech. It does not appear...

try a different signal source (tape player, cd player etc) and see if the sound gets into your device, if it doesn't see that sound either, then the problem is with the digitech and not your midi keyboard. The digitech doesnt have midi chords, just analog so I'm a bit confused when you say MIDI. I have the digitech vocalist IV and it doesn't have midi in or out either. only analog in, also two XLR's and etc. great machine by the way, I'm sorry to hear yours has quit working for whatever reason.

Check your computer setting - You should check play options or similar. You dont ID the computer nor operating system so it is hard to be more specific.

On my Midi Device with USB connection, I have a choice of Microsoft routine or other routine. When set to Microsoft setting, my midi keyboard works.

    I hope this helps you

    Connect usbtocomputer

Hello - I am too a personal owner of a CASIO CTK keyboard, a little older than yours (model CTK-601) a great keyboard BTW, and I have connected it to my computer successfuly.

There are 2 ways of connecting the keyboard to your PC......Using the MIDI outputs and a special MIDI to gameport adapter - if you have a very old system and have a joystick port (D-sub shape) on your soundcard or PC, then you use that cable. Of course this is legacy and stopped existing in newer computers, now USB is used.

Only the professional line of soundcards have direct MIDI inputs. For most of us, with consumer soundcards and PCs, there are no MIDI inputs.

The good news is that newer keyboards support USB MIDI and features direct USB connection - so all you have to do is install the drivers that are provided with your keyboard, usually a CD, and follow the instruction to install the USB drivers for your casio keyboard, BEFORE you plug in the cable (very important!) once installed you reboot and connect your keyboard using a USB cable

Now if your keyboard is older and has MIDI outputs, like mine for example, you will need to purchase a MIDI to USB adapter, those have MIDI cables in one end that plug to your keyboard and the other end a USB connector....... I don't know about the rules if I am allowed to post websites, but the product i'm using is the Uno from M-Audio - in google do this search:

    "m-audio"uno

(exactly as shown above with quotes, and uno outside quotes)

Your CTK-810 may alreayd have a USB connector on it, as it is a newer generation keyboard - I am pretty sure it does - what you will have to do as stated above is located your bundled CD-ROM and install the USB drivers - you will need to purchase a USB cable (seperately).
