Question about Teac PD-H500 CD Player

Open Question

TEAC PD-H500C door won't open

The CD door is stuck. It would play normally, except from the last track. When pushing the eject button, the reading stops, but the CD door doesn't move. I opened the stuff and tried to help it pushing manually on the carrier, but it didn't work.

HELP !

I had the same issue today. I found that opening the unit you can see that there is a white ribbon cable connecting the head unit to the main board. removing this cable and re-inserting it the connector fixed the problem. The display now works again...hope this helps

SOURCE: TEAC CD P1120 wont play

replace the loading tray belt as this also lifts the laser mechanism up to the level of the disc once loaded.
the humming sound you hear will be the motor trying to lift the mechanism up to read the disc but can't because the belt has lost its tension and is slipping.

Sounds like the door may have something sticky around the edges. Even a little sticky stuff (like from candy-coated fingers...?) can prevent the door\drawer of any CD player from opening.
Try gently "assisting" the door during the few seconds it's trying to open. If it seems like it's not sticking to the housing try the manual eject button.
Depending on your specific device, there should be a very small hole near the door\drawer (Refer to your owners manual for the exact location). It will be just big enough to stick the end of a large paperclip into. Insert the end of a paperclip into the hole and push firmly (make sure nothing is blocking the door\drawer from opening) and the door\drawer should open slightly. Then pull the door\drawer open the rest of the way. If you have to do this, make sure the power is off as the unit might try to close the drawer automatically while you're trying to pull it open.
Once you have the drawer open, inspect the inner surface of the drawer and the area it contacts for anything sticky. Clean with a damp cloth only. Do not spray any cleaner on the unit. If you need to use any cleaners, spray them on the cloth. Clean the area around the inner drawer faceplate and surrounding areas. Let dry for a few minutes then power up and test for operation. It should work fine now.
If not, it may be time to replace this old unit with a new one as repair costs generally exceed the cost of replacement.

Hope this answers your problem. Good Luck!

Cd player does not seem to recognise a CD. it closes, does not lift the CD to engage and then reopens again. If i insisted it eventually used to play at the fifth or sixth attempt but now it will not.

This could be dirt or damage to the lazer lens. But you should carefully look at the plastic parts of the mechanism just to make certain there is no damage to anything.

check to make sure the sliding door that covers the cd cartridge opens all the way. On my TC the sliding door slides freely except for the last quarter inch. I have to push really hard to get it open all the way. And it won't eject unless it is completely open

The CD drawer refuses to open when I push the open button.

I know this sounds a little brutal for what is after all is a delicate piece of hi-fi; I've just fixed mine by turning it upside down and giving it a good shake, knocking the underside a couple of times. The tray jumps out of its guide track, you're just shakin it back in.

TEAC-P1260 - Initially Cd would play then eject randomly. Next would play only a few seconds then eject. Now has eaten a disc and will not eject. Any suggestions?

First you do is to unplug the cord of your CD unit for 5 hours in order to drain the stored current, the purpose is to reset the unit. After the 5 hours plug the CD see to it if it open If not, just try to press down on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the CD unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricalshock . When open already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the CD player and you will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc platter. When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly. If you do already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn?t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There?s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also. Hope it may help you; Regards; VOTIT

CD/DVD drive stuck CLOSED and NO pin hole

Use my computer and select the drive (eg drive E:). From pull down menu "File" select "eject". While the disk door attempts to open (hear slight movement of tray) massage the door with your fingers. This is done by smoothing out the across front door panel with your finger tips and pushing in and releasing pressure from door. Door should slide open partially and close again. Repeat. The eject button nearside the disc tray doesn't seem to work as well as selecting "File" and "Eject" from the menu. Something to do with the door cycle is less with the direct eject button.

Hi Donna, the tray is moved in and out by cogs on a track. Can you see a little pin hole in the front of the unit. open out a paper clip and push it in, You should feel some Resistance! push a little harder and the CD drawer should open out a bit, then carefully pull it out the whole way. use the eject button to close it and open it. if this doesn't work, bring it back to the shop

Stuck cd discs

I think there are a couple of faults here. The first one is maybe a faulty motor on the eject mechanism. The second one is a faulty laser unit as it is not scanning the disc. Hope this helps.
