Try uninstalling it then reinstalling it,
if you dont know how here is how you do it....

go to device manager--right click my computer--hardware--device manager.. choose your drive go to driver then uninstall..

to reinstall go to control panel--add remove hardware and follow the prompts

God Bless

Dvd+rw nd-2100ad no disk in drive error

Can you see DVD-RW drives indicator busy when you insert that disk for a long time? if so, your drive may not going to read that disk. If it is in case of CD disk, sometimes DVD-RW just can't read it while very old CD-ROM can read! If this happens in case of other CD/DVD witch is readable by other DVD-RW, You may just try to clean the lens of your drive.

Using Windows XP. Want to copy vidoe from Media

Is the drive you are using a DVD writer or only a DVD reader? The drive that writes to RW disks is labeled DVD/RW or DVD Recordable.
These are the only drive types that will read and write a DVD/RW disc.

Get Error msg - RW CD is Read Only

OK for CD-RW you have to make sure you are using a burning application that allow's CD-RW. This is DIFFERENT to making a MULTISESSION disk whereby you can add file later.

If you use a CD-RW media and just burn normally, the application will finish off the disk as a CD-R media.

Basically, the disk must be 'formatted' correctly for CD-RW which will allow you to add/remove/modify the files on the CD.

Most versions of NERO should have this facility.

Cannot copy files to DVD disks

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.
