I downloaded all my pictures on to a cd, loaded the cd in my asus notebook and nothing! how in the world do i put my pictures on the notebook from a cd?

Hello there.

Can that CD you burned be read on a different computer aside from where you burned it? Blank CD's should be "finalized" after burning it to be able to view it on different CD-ROMS. CD-roms which are not CD-writers cannot read "unfinalized" burned CDs.

To finalize it, insert back the same CD in your CD-writer and look for the option to finalize it.

If it is finalized and still can't be read by your notebook, try another brand of blank CDs.

Thanks for using Fixya!

My cd-rw/dvd rom burner is very successfuly to burn any kind of blank cd. The problem is : fail to read any kind of data from every common blank cd after burning. It's just only can read successfuly cd...

Have you taken a CD that you have burned to another computer, to see if the other computer can read the CD?

Rather than spending $50 to $75 to have a qualified computer technician try to trouble-shoot the problem, spend $40 to $50 to buy a brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer.

My computer wont recognise my dvd burner but it will read and play dvds just wont burn them and when i try a new dvd burning tool it cant fint my burner

Is your DVD drive a Combo DVD ROM and CD Read/writer? If so it cannot burn DVD only reads DVDs and read and burn CDs.
If the program cannot find a DVD burner then either the burning software cannot support that model DVD burner ot the DVD burner is faulty.
To test the DVD burner, remove it and install it into another computer to test the burner to see if is faulty.

Read a copied CD

If you burned a Data CD and didn't finalize it, it likely will not be viewable in another PC. Put the disk back into the PC that created it and start the software you used to burn it and attempt to finalize the burn. This should make it compatible with most computers.

I can burn cd's but not dvd's

Hello Rfd832,
What I see from the description is that the drive is a combo drive. Combo drives are CD-RW and DVD-ROM drives means
CD-RW = Compact Disk-Read Write
DVD-ROM = Digital Versatile Disk - Read Only Memory
so these drives can read and write CDs but can only read DVDs (Cannot write or burn DVDs)
If you want to be able to burn DVDs then you need to have DVD RW drive (either DVD+RW or DVD-RW)

You said that you are able to burn DVDs on other computer so please check the label on the DVD drive.. it should be DVD-RW/DVD+RW drive

Hope that helps.. :)

Thanks and Regards,
Srinivas

How can i burn an audio disc that will play on a cd player and not just my pc?

Modern CD players usually can read all audio disk burned on any computer system.

If you have an older model however you may experience some problem with certain settings, follow instructions below:

1 Ensure that you burn on CD support, and not a DVD, many computer drive can manage the same way CD and DVD, and burn music on DVD, but the player won't read them.
2 Ensure that you are burning an Audio CD on the cd burning, if you will just burn your MP3 files onto a disk, an ordinary CD player won't read them, unless it has MP3 capabilities.
3 If you have an old system try burning at the minimum possible speed , systems built in 80s and early 90s where limited to low speed, some 80s CD drive could read only 2x or 4x.
4 If your system is old also chose close disk after burning option on burning software, this wont affect new cd players.

You also need a software to burn CD, if you do not have burning software , see choice on websites below:
