I don't know where the cords need to be connected on the monitor and hardrive

As confusing as it might be, this isn't really that complicated as there are not many choices. Although there may be extra cables you normally will only have two cables to connect to the monitor -- one for the video signal and the other power.

The power cable is usually black (sometimes grey) -- one end connects to the wall outlet the other end at the back of the monitor -- match the shape and there is only one way the cable pushes in.

The video cable is usually black but will normally have blue connectors or while connectors on each end. Both ends are the same. Connect one end to the monitor. There is only one connection that matches the shape and it only fits on one way. On the main computer box, again match the cable connection you have to the one with the same shape and size. Again it only fits on one way.

Plug in a keyboard and mouse. These days most have a USB connector (small rectangular) but can be plugged into any USB port available (on the front or back of the computer). They only go in one way so don't try to force it. If it doesn't work, flip the connector over and try again. This should be enough to get you up and running. Turn on the monitor power (usually a button on the front or side edge). Turn on the computer (usually a button on the front).

Hello, there may be several reasons for this;

1. Confirm that the monitor cables are connected properly
2. Do you have a graphics card installed? if so i guess its not seated properly, you should power down and confirm.

3. Does your computer boot up? you may have to confirm using another monitor, see if you can get into the bios or something. If nothing comes on screen then please check your memory and hard-disk connections

4. Check all other board connections, you may have overlooked something

Hope you resolve this soon

1. Check the hardrive cable connection (data and DC supply).
2. Under the BIOS setting, make sure that the hardrive is detected (set to enhance mode), this will detects either SATA or PATA., Exit and Save new setting
3. If still no detect, your hardrive might defect n need new one

My monitor suddenly lost signal and hasn't returned

do you mean the processor fan that is located near on the left top corner on the motherboard? if that stopped working then turn of your pc immediately. probably the cpu overheated. if that fan does not work replace it immediately as it will burn the cpu.

The pc starts but not sure if it boots all up as now no monitors will work on it tried everything it went funny when i took the hardrive out i did replace the hardrive but still not working i tried all...

The graphics card might be in properly, or you need to replace card. Try and see what happens. If you have on-board screen adapter try using that and unplug the AGP or PCI one first and see if screen appears. Also if your using a Digital monitor check if the monitor is in Digital or Analog mode, dependnig on how you plugged in.

If all else fails, try taking out the battery on mother board and restarting computer.
