Use a pencil to mark the holes for the extinguisher mounting bracket. After marking the holes, apply smal pieces of masking tape over the holes. This will prevent the Gel coat from chipping while drilling the holes for mounting the screws. If the side of the compartment is thick enough, you can use self taping screws. If there is access to the other side thru an access port, you can use machine screws and lock nuts to secure it. Keep in mind that you will want to use a 316 stainless steel fastener, and also apply a marine silicone in the holes before screwing the fasteners in place. 18-8 stainless will corrode/rust overtime, especially in a saltwater environment.

I used Gorilla Glue to mount a block of wood to the inside of my center console, then screwed the extinguisher bracket to the wood. This adds rigidity and prevents having to drill all the way through the fibreglass. The extinguisher has stayed in place for 20+ years on often-rough seas.

The vent pipe CAN NOT touch the wall stud. You can cut back the fiberglass insulation, but it must be a minimum of 6" away from the vent pipe on all sides.

I didn't see the cig lighter mentioned in my online resource, but with my experience on GM vehicles, the under dash driver's side fuse box usually has a cig lighter fuse listed. If not, then you'll have to get a fuse tester and test each and every fuse until you find the burnt out one.

If the fuse is not burnt out, there may be a broken wire behind the console.

Console Removal & Installation Chevrolet Lumina & Monte Carlo To Remove:
    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable after first disabling the Theftlock® feature of the radio, if equipped.

      • Remove the transaxle shift handle.
      • Remove the front floor console trim plate by unsnapping from the console.
      • Detach the automatic transaxle control indicator socket and bulb from the trim plate and detach the electrical connector from the trim plate.

Distance to keep between a 2000 watt heater & wall insulation?

The fiberglass will not catch fire. There is a sfer barrier built into the wall heaters. When you install a wall heater you basically just cut the wall open and throw the unit in with the flue and gas and away you go. If you can to second guess take some of the insillation and take a match or a lighter and hold it in your hand and light the fiberglass, you will see that it wont burn even with direct flame on it. You are 100 percent safe
