It may need to have the carb cleaned thoroughly--there could be a sticky float valve--you may be able to check without removing the carb if you can access the bottom of the carb--if you remove the bottom, the float valve will be there hanging down. remove it and clean it in solvent

Gas blower engine surges and shuts off when engine gets hot

check your fuel lines for cracks, could be sucking air or could be your carb needs cleaning, make sure you clean the screen inside the carb, if you run it with the choke on partially does it smooth out and quit surging, if so it is definitely a fuel problem. Hope I helped you. 2StrokeJim

I have a gas craftsman leaf blower/vac 32cc. it starts ok but it wont shut off. what can I try?

Hi, W/D here.

There should be a switch at the front of the machine that you can depress to break the power and shut the machine down. Most of these type switches will go to off only as long as you hold the switch down, then return to the run position when you let off of it. Take a closer look, and you should see it.
Best regards, --W/D--

Won't start --has gas--has spark craftsman leaf bower

most likely the air filter is clogged, take it out blow it out or spray water through it and allow it to dry completely.

alterinavely, just pouring a small amount of gas onto the filter should make it work, i would do that even if you do clean it properly.

this method works for cars too!

My Craftsman leaf blower will not start. Why not?

Inside the carb is yet another fuel filter in the form of a screen. It is located just under the inlet needle and it would be included in a carb REBUILD KIT (not simply a diaphragm kit).
Replacing the screen and rebuilding the carb take nearly the same amount of labor so buy yourself a kit. Roughly $10.00 for most Hand-Held blowers.
Hope this helps.

I just foun out that i forgot to add oil to gas mixture to my blo

hello, what you should do is drain out the gas from the tank into a clean container so you can add the oil to it and you should also check your spark plug make sure it's o.k. after draining out the gas try starting the blower a few times with out the spark plug wire connected to the spark plug this will flush out and of the pure gas from the fuel lines, after doing this re-connect the Spark plug wire and add your fuel/oil mixture and re-start, it might take a few times for it to start due to all the gas in the engine but it'll start also if your blower has a primer bulb you may want to prime it a few times after adding the fuel oil mixture to get it in the combustion chamber, if after doing this you still get nothing you'll want to re-place your spark plug it might be fouled out. good luck

Craftsman gas leafblower

Hey Karl,

To me this sounds like its getting too much fuel after it has been warmed up so either there is too much gas flow to the unit or there is not enough. check your primer bulb once this happens if there is a full bulb when it shuts down chances are its getting too much gas, if its empty then its not getting enough and your fuel filter could be starting to plug up or is not in the tank properly.
