Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I am getting the error code 07 010 43:41344 from my Xerox Phaser 8400. I replace the maintenance kit and the Gearbox & Drive Motor 401100080 since I started having these problems. What does the code mean? Can I fix it or do I need to call a technician? Is this printer worth fixing?

This is not a laser printer. Can it still have a laser/scanner?

  • mdoylephoto May 10, 2010

Thank you. You gave me the answer I needed even though it is the one I didn't want.

I believe you have a laser failure and a power issue, something may be half connected, disconnected, or mis-connected. Before you panic, you need to reseat the connector(s) on the laser/scanner unit and see if the error goes away. If it does fine. You may have bumped something installing the maintenance kit.

If not the next step may be to replace the laser/scanner as there is no sensor involved with this error. It will be $200 for the parts and as much as $300 labor for the repair.

Sorry, I thought it would use the same error codes as the Xerox Phaser 770, which is a laser printer.

Maybe this site will have something useful for you, I'm sorry I don't have more familiarity with this model printer. But if I find something, I'll post it for you.

Called Xerox friend and got an answer, not the best answer; but an answer. Standard error codes for user issues on a Phaser 8400 are listed here and go from 01 to 37. The specific error you showed is listed here, but it every "07" error on that list says the following...

"Solution: Turn the Printer Off and Call for Service Using the
Authorized Service Provider (ASP) Search Tool or the Local Xerox Support
    Center"

There are no suggestions for repair, no diagnostics listed you can run, nothing you can check. I would assume whatever is broken is VERY difficult to resolve or more expensive that the cost of the printer itself.

    Hope this helps.

When I turn on my Phaser 8400 I get an error message of 07,008.41:4825. What the problem. Thanks for your help.

7,008.4x: head tilt not engaged.
The printhead tilt is not engaged, so it didn't tilt back properly or the printhead is stuck in the tilted position by the tilt lock arms. The process motor gear train getting out of sync can also cause this error.

1. Try rebooting the printer.
2.make sure there is no ink melted under the printhead which can make it dificult for the printhead to work properly..
3. make sure that the printhead restraints are not broken.
4. Check for an obstruction or damage in the process gearbox.
Ensure the gears are correctly aligned and homed. If faulty replace the process gearbox assembly.
5. Run the Tilt Axis Drive test to test the headtilt.
6. Run the Head Maintenance Wiper Clutch test. If the test fails, replace the wiper drive clutch.
7. Run the Wiper Axis Drive test.
8. Replace the exit assembly.

good luck!

Phaser 8400 Error Code 07.009.42:265696

Hi carlt322:
Here is your problem.

7,009.4x: PM_FAULT_HEADTILT_PARK_ ERROR
The printhead is tilted back but not in the park arms and restrained properly. This is due
to the wiper assembly not moving up far enough for the park arms to hold it.
1. Check the printhead heater wiring.
2. Check for an obstruction or damage in the process
gearbox. Ensure the gears are correctly aligned and
homed, see page 6-8. If faulty replace the process
gearbox assembly.
3. Run the Head Maintenance Clutch test, if it fails replace
the clutch.
4. Run the Wiper Drive test. If the test fails, inspect the
maintenance drive system.
5. Replace the exit assembly.

Hope this helps

Xerox Phaser 8400 Error code 07,010.43:47560 how to fix any instructions. regards maciek

I looked everywhere for a solution for error 07,010.43:168130 and found that most everyone recommended I take it to a pro for errors starting in 07,010.43. However, before I resorted to that I cleared out the ink tray and replaced the maintenance kit, turned it off and then back on and it miraculously worked. A lot of ink had piled on the ink tray but the sensor did not alert me that it needed to be emptied.

So...I don't know how you're really supposed to fix that problem but the ink & maintenance kit thing worked for me!

Phaser 8400 error code 37,016,43:7052

From the service manual:

37,016.4x - PEST_FAULT_HM_CLUTCH_DISCONNECT
PEST - Head maintenance clutch disconnect. The head maintenance clutch is not
drawing the expected power from the supply.
1. Run the Head Maintenance Clutch test.
2. Check the Head Maintenance Clutch wiring.
3. Disconnect the Wave Amp signal cable from the left
side of the Electronics Module. If the error code
changes, replace the Wave Amp.
4. Replace the head maintenance clutch.

I have the full service manual available should you need it. Thanks and please take a moment to rate this solution as fixya.

Hallo

07,009.42 indicates that the printhead was unable to tilt normally on its axis.

You probably have a cracked drum maintenance camshaft. If the drum maintenance pivot plate is white plastic it should be replaced as well with the new style, which is black plastic. This repair requires removing the process drive gears assembly and reinstalling it requires the gears to be timed. This repair should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with these machines.

You probably have a cracked drum maintenance camshaft. The dm camshaft is driven by the process drive motor on the right side of the printer. It raises and lowers the maintenance kit against the drum to oil and clean the drum. The camshaft has 2 lobes on it. These lobes crack over time and cause several different error conditions. The camshaft part # 401100380 is only about $17 from xerox but can be tricky to replace if you're not mechanically inclined. The other thing to look at is the pivot plate assembly. Slide out the drum maintenance kit. If you look inside the cavity the plate that the maintenance kit sits on is called the pivot plate. If it's white it will also need to be replaced with a black one.

PHASER 8400

There is an encoder on the drum drive motor that picks up lubricant from the maintenance kit. It may simply need cleaned, if cleaning doesnt work, it will need to be replaced.
Xerox has parts lists on the xerox.com site for that product if you need to locate it.

Xerox printer error code (04,025.46)

This is a print head position issue.

TRY FIRST (Solutions without parts):
1. Check that the wipe mechanism has homed. 2. Check the printhead position and verify that it has initialized properly / manually home the printhead and power cycle the printers power and check for the error to return. If not then the error was most likely due to non-process function (something out of sequence).
Part likely to be the cause:
GEARBOX AND MOTOR,PROCESS DRIVE - PL 4.0, Item 14.
