Now you need to repair your harddrive boot record.
For that insert vista disk into computer then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALt+F2 key to enter in bios .
Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as cd/dvd rom then save settings and exit then it boot with disk then enter in recovery console mode and run this command "fixmbr" without "" then press enter.
Then restart computer and again boot with vista disk this time choose R for repair previous windows then it repair it.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I caNT RESET MY FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS FOR MY ACER ASPIRE 3680 COMPUTER

How to restore your computer to factorysettings without a disk?
If original andfairly new: While Booting Up.

Dell XP = Ctrl+F11
Dell Vista = F8
EEEPC = Esc
Compaq = F11
HP Desktop Vista = F11
Emachine = F10
Acer = Alt+F10

Every manufacture has or uses different Function Key combinations to do a Factory Default Recovery. Also if it didn't come withdisks there is normally a program in the menus to create your own set of recovery CDs. This must be done before you ever putanything on the recovery partition d:, if you used d: for anything you need toremove what you put there or the recovery will not function.(As soon as yourcomputer is turning on press the F10 key and it will take you to the systemrecovery screen, click on the advanced option and click Destructive recoveryand click next. WARNING: before doing this backup anything on your computer youwant to keep pictures, videos, music etc. This will delete everything that didnot come pre-loaded from the factory, so if you have pictures of Aunt Fae'sClass reunion you should probably back those up if you want to keep them.)

I need to do a destructive recovery. Do I need a

That depends, what operating system are you using? if its vista or 7 you dont need a disk. Restart the pc and when the bios screen shows press f11 or what ever key is assigned to Recovery Console. Follow the prompts and your all done. If your using xp you may need the disk for the recovery. Have you considered doing a system restore? or is the problem to severe?

Hi,

I guess you mean to say recovery well if ur trying to run the destructive recovery from the partiton which you can access from the f10 key for xp and f11 for vista then u need to run the recovery from the recovery cds.If ur facing this issue if ur runing it from the disk then u need to run a test on the hard drive normally this happens if a sector in the hard drive gows bad.When you ran the recovery make sure that the first boot priority is the cd/dvd drive which you can change from the BIOS and you should not connect any extrernal devices not even the cable for the internet ....

Can't restore factory intallations and settings: Vaio VGN-FE880E

Are you doing DESTRUCTIVE recoveries or are you doing NONDESTRUCTIVE recoveries? Try another hard drive in the machine and recover to that. Nondestructive recoveries replace the operating system without destroying the personal data. Its possible the original problem is propagating over to the recovered systems. Do a destructive recovery. Understand any data not backed up will be destroyed. Possible the original problem was a trojan virus.

I formatted my laptop which is using windows vista,how will i bring back the vista again?

once you format your sytems means, you deleted whole OS so you need to reinstall fresh OS on it.
you supposed to have a recovery disk (it comes alongwith laptop while buying it)
but it depends on what basic OS was there when you bought your Laptop if there was XP then you got XP OS recovery disk if there was vista then you have Vista recovery disk.
if you don't have recovery disk then you need to get new Vista disk from market to install back vista in your laptop.

thank you,

If recovery is not possible by using recovery cd; you have to depend on a full version XP cd -- either for repair or new installation.
