Question about Vornado Circulating Fan
Around the wall/body of the sides fan near the rear grill are embossed arrows pointing to screws (first unscrew all-depending on the fan model, there may be 3 or 4 screws (or, as suggested, with the fan's back towards you, use a flashlight to locate the screws).. next, with the fan facing you, grip the edge of the front piece (over the clips) with your finger and gently lift out and towards you. Usually the bottom 2 will also come off easily. DO NOT remove the screws on the posts. You can unscrew the nut on the blade to wash the blade and the front piece. the rear piece doesn't come off. Wipe the rear piece patiently with a moist cloth. Make sure all are dry. Leave alone the motor, blow air into screw holes, else the motor shaft, screws and fan shaft will rust. (paraphrased from official user manual). Remember the orient the notch of the blade to the motor shaft flat edge, and the fan nut unscrews the other way (clockwise).

You cannot with the clips... its impossible.. wound up breaking the clips... and STILL cannot get grill off. Don't ever by a Vornado if you cannot clean it!

SOURCE: i HAVE A Vornado Type
There are three clips the hold the grill to the cowl.
One clip at 11 o'clock, one at 2 o'clock and one at 6 o'clock.
Use a flat blade screw driver to push the 11 and 2 positions down (do 11 then do 2) and the grill shold come off.
I can send pic if needed.

You can remove it by pressing the clips. I used a flat screwdriver as there was no way my thumb would fit in there. But it worked like a champ with the screwdriver. I pressed two clips and it popped and then I could simply lift the grill away from the fan blades.

We just figured this out ourselves. There are four (4) screws on the back of each fan that when undone it releases the grill for cleaning. But the fun part is getting the screws back in to the little holes. But all in all we got it clean...
