Question about Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router
Step 1: If you have forgotten your LinkSys router password, the easiest thing to do is to reset your router to the factory default settings.
To restore the router configuration to factory defaults, hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds. Step 2: Once your router is hard reset, you will need to login and reconfigure it again.
To reconfigure your LinkSys, connect a PC to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router. Note: On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin."
Once you are past the login screen, you are able to reconfigure the LinkSys router. You want to go to the management tab and change the administrator password to something else to keep others from accessing your router. Step 3: After changing the administrator password then you will need to enable WEP or WAP security so your neighbors aren't tapping into your wireless network. :)

You don't need some kind of software to control your
router, all you have to do is to connect with your browser (e.g.
Internet explorer) to a specific i.p.adress. Take care in case you're going to change the security settings for your
wireless internet, I suggest you try changing the seettings with a
computer physically connected to the router (that means by cable), so in case of an
error you will not keep out yourself.

Router setup If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Thanks, Joe
You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.
