Some cameras require that you open the lens cover. Some computers require that you have the camera software, downloaded to the computer. (On a CD provided with the camera)

Most cameras allow you to pull the photos off as if it were another hard drive assuming the camera is recognized. Right click start - then explore. Look for your camera and click on the folders until you see the photos saved. You can then cut or copy them anywhere else on your PC.

Download photos to computer

If you used a SD card in your camera then just pull that card out (when camera is off) and plug it in your laptop or use USB SD card reader and then you can copy all the images in the SD card in your computer hard drive.

If you used camera internal memory then you need to install a software called Kodak EasyShare provided with the camera in a CD. If you don't have the CD, you can download this software from kodak website. Now install this software and then connect the camera with your computer using the USB cable provided with the camera. Make sure you have batteries in the camera. When you have plugged the camera, turn on the camera and kodak easyshare software will detect the camera and let you browse the photos in the camera memory.

What usb cable is required to download pictures from the vivitar vivicam 8400?

You don't need a USB cable.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Do what the pros do....use a card reader instead of the camera. When you plug it into the USB port, an icon will appear called "NO NAME". Double-click on it and the pics will open in "preview". From there, you can import them to a folder you create on your desktop or into iPhoto. d05ed6a.jpg

How to download photos from vivicam 4100

Hookup the camera using the supplied USB cable. Turn on the Camera. And wait!!! Sometimes the VISTA PC will recognize the camera in a minute or two, sometimes longer. Turning the camera on and off will cause an icon to appear in the 'Computer' window momentarily, but it usually disappears!

I have taken many, many pics with my trusty 4100 and have been able to transfer ALL of them by exercising extreme patience.

Just keep checking the Computer window for the USB icon.

Good Luck,

Don

Two options: -

1. Install the software from the Canon CD and use the USB cable that came with the camera.

2. Take the CF card from the camera and plug it into any USB card reader with a CF/Microdrive slot.

Transferring photos from digital to photo frame- How to? Please

If you need to transfer to your computer just connect the USB cable from the camera to the computer, switch the camera on, turn the dial to View and Voila! A connect icon appears on the camera screen. Follow instructions on screen to download photos; develop if necessary. Presumably you will then be able to download the jpegs to your photo frame from your computer.
