Question about HP DT PAVILION P6110f DESKTOP PC

1 Answer

When I click on email icon on desktop, my home page flashes.

When I click on email icon on desktop, me hope page flashes off and on. I can get to home page by using Internet Explorer, and making extra steps, but I'd rather use the email icon as I could in the past.

Hi Jim!

I'm not sure I understand... Are you using a web-based email (such as Gmail/Yahoo, Gmail, etc.) or a designated email software (such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.)??
In other words: Is the email icon a shortcut to a software or an internet page?

When you open IE, does it open normally?

Waiting for your reply...

Best regards,
Pelu.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Want an icon on desktop to immediately log into my gmail

That depends on the system you are using. In earlier versions of windows I think you can right-click on the Gmail page and move the mouse to "create shortcut".
Windows 7 and later does not enable website shotcuts on the desktop, only the shortcut to the browser itself.
You can however set (one of) the Home page(s) of your browser to Gmail. This way, whenever your browser opens, you will see the gmail page.
If you need help with setting the home page of the browser, please be sure to note the browser's name and the system you use.

This will add to your screen toolbar File Edit View Favorites Tools and Help
Open your hotmail right click select Add to Favorites.
Then you can access your Hotmail through Favorites drop down list.
Or
If you have multiple Hotmail accounts, you can create a shortcut icon for each of the accounts on the desktop.
This allows you to quickly launch the specific login page for each email account without having to reenter or remember each email address.

1
Log in to your Hotmail account. Place the cursor in the address bar and highlight the URL.
Right-click and select "Copy."
2
Right-click on an empty space of the desktop and select "New" and then "Shortcut."
The "Create Shortcut" wizard launches.
3
Right-click inside "Type the location of the item" field and select "Paste."
The URL of your Hotmail account is pasted as the location of the shortcut.
Click "Next."
4
Type a name for the icon in the "Type a name for this shortcut" field and click "Finish."
The Hotmail shortcut icon appears on the desktop.
Double-click the Hotmail icon to log in and access your Hotmail account.
Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for each Hotmail account you want to create an icon for on the desktop.

Please give me shortcut of "Yahoo mail" logo for my desktop

Open up your favorite browser, navigate to the Yahoo sign in page. On the address bar to the left is an icon at the beginning of the website address. Just left click that icon and hold it down while you drag it to your desktop and let it go. It should create a shortcut on your desktop to that page.

Hope that helps, by the way that procedure is good for any page you would want to shortcut to your desktop.

Disable windows active desktop then reactivate it. That will take care of it. Microsoft Windows XP users
  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Open the Display icon.
  3. Click the Desktop tab.
  4. Click the Customize Desktop button.
  5. Click the Web tab in the Desktop Items window.
If you wish to enable the Active Desktop, check "My Current Home Page". Add your current home page into your desktop or click New to add another web page and/or other Active Desktop features. To update the content, click the Synchronize button.
If you wish to disable Active Desktop, make sure all checkboxes in this window are un-checked.
Microsoft Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 users
  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Open the Display icon.
  3. Click the Web tab in the Display Properties window.
If you wish to enable the Active Desktop, check the checkbox for "Show Web content on my Active Desktop" and select the home page you wish to use as the active desktop.
If you wish to disable Active Desktop, make sure that "Show Web content on my Active Desktop" is unchecked.
