Question about John Deere Tractor Side Screen 1050,1520,2020,2030

1 Answer

I have a 1958 John Deere 730 LP tractor that I don?t know much about. I paid to have a front loader installed on it about five years ago and it worked then, but then I didn?t use the tractor for over 3 years. Now I?m trying to use it and put about 3 gallons of hydraulic fluid in it in the hole located by the transmission shifter. Everything works except for the front loader. I saw that there is a cap on the top left side of the loader but I?m not sure if I have to also put hydraulic fluid in there or what else could be the problem with the front loader not working?

I did check the lines. There is a screw on cap on the top left side of the Duall loader. Does the frame of the loader also require hydraulic fluid in order to work the loader, since the hydraulics on the back of the tractor seem to work just fine? It worked for a second when I tried to use it then it quit. There are no broken hydraulic lines. I checked them.

This was good information but it did not answer the question I asked because I keep asking if there is hydraulic fluid needed to be put into the actual loader that I had installed which seems to have some sort of fill area with a cap on the front left side of this Duall Loader. All the rest of the hydraulics work on the back of the tractor. This was my question. I did previously check all the lines and electrical already.

Hi.

Check and clean linkage.
Ensure that you have connected the hoses in the right ports. There should be bucket hoses going to one valve and boom hoses going to the second valve.
Inspect the controls and the wiring from controls.
If the joystick looks loose, then it may be broken.

If the front loader does not try to move, inspect first the controls and all electrical wiring. Wiring are tested using a voltmeter (Electrical Circuit Tester Pen for Car Auto).

If wiring is OK, inspect the high pressure lines going from the pump to the valve assembly. Ensure that there is no blockage or leaks. The pump is probably located in front of the motor, I do not have schematics for this model.

If that does not fix the problem, then either cylinder or valve may be faulty. A faulty cylinder is far more common than a valve problem.

Regards.

How do I find the model or year on 38" John Deere with no hood?

A ten year old mower that probably cost about $1500.00 at least twn years ago that has not been taken care of is not worth much.

John Deere is a good name as in Kohler. How much is it worth? It is currently worth what you paid for it, you just made it worth that much.
