Question about HP Pavilion F1703 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

The window to control the contrast on the screen won't go away. Also, the blue area on the screen is offset to the right so that you can't see the right side of the blue and you can see black on the left. I have tried unplugging the screen & resetting the computer. How do I get rid of this?

Hello

the display should have a set of settings and controls that you can use to adjust the display location, or possibly perform autofocus.

To get rid of the control window in the display, follow on the on screen instructions to exit or go back.

If the on screen display does not respond to the buttons, you might have a fault in the display, if unplugging didn't solve the problem, some of the components on the display might require repairs, issue could be the buttons or possibly if the buttons are fine, then the issue is simply on the main board inside the display.

The lcd display has 3 to 4 boards inside, which are, the front buttons (small circuitboard) Power and or inverter board, and the mainboard.

The main board is full of small components and is beyound home repair, it requires a skilled repairer to repair the board, ofcourse a home user can just replace the board if you can find a replacement.

What I would suggest, IF the controls do not respond, is to first CHECK your WARRANTy, if you are in warranty the repair will most likely be free for you, aside from shipping. If you are outside of warranty, a local LCD repairer can help you with this, this is definitely a internal hardware issue at that point if the keys do not work.

And you will need the assistance of a skilled repairer to repair the mainboard or possibly the buttons, which ever may be the issue in the end.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything else I can help you with.

Blue screen on technics kn2000 pcm keyboard all else works

IF the normal screen had a blue background, POSSIBLY the contrast setting got moved to the end of range making the characters invisible.

The contrast control MAY be called several names including CONTRAST, VIEWING ANGLE, etc... Refer to your user manual.

My monitor stays white it wont show any display

Hi,
black-icon.gif This icon indicates the BRIGHTNESS control, more properly called BLACK LEVEL. It adds or subtracts an offset, or bias, into the red, green, and blue signals. This control should be adjusted so that black picture content displays as true black on your monitor. Misadjustment of this control is the most common problem of poor quality picture reproduction on computer monitors, video monitors, and television sets. Later in this document, I will explain how to set this control properly. The setting is somewhat dependent upon ambient light. Modern display equipment is sufficiently stable that frequent adjustment is unnecessary.

picture-icon.gif This icon indicates the CONTRAST control, preferably called PICTURE. It applies a scale factor (gain) to the red, green, and blue signals. It affects the luminance (proportional to intensity) that is reproduced for a full white input signal. Once BRIGHTNESS is set correctly, CONTRAST should be set for comfortable viewing brightness.

The gamma can be controlled through Video Card utility which can usually be accessed by going to display properties.

Depending on your video card software you may be able to right click your desktop, select properties, select settings tab and then choose advanced, towards the bottom. In there you may find a tab called Monitor and under that tab you may or may not (depending on your video card software) be able to adjust your color correction settings(gamma & brightness & contrast).

. Right click on the desktop and then select Properties

2. Click on the Settings tab and then click on the Advanced button.

3. Click on the Color Correction tab and you will see settings for Brightness, Contrast, and Gamma

I own a samsung ln46a530 and need to configure it for the best picture.....any recomendatios?

If you haven't already bought a nice set of HDMI cables, go ahead and do so (just dont fall for the "gold plated" cables as they are a gimmick). Unfortunately, while we all want that HD quality, there seems to be some problems with the ln46a530 when switching from RCA to HDMI. On the bright side, they have been resolved in this forum post.

Best audio settings:
Mode: Custom
SRS TruSurround XT: On
Auto Volume: On
TV Speaker: On

attachment.php?attachmentid=107143&d=1207804513

(# of clicks):
Balance: 0
100Hz: 8 clicks right
300Hz: 8 left
1kHz: 4 left
3kHz: 3 right
10kHz: 5 right

For best picture:

Most accurate settings

Backlight = 6

Black Adjust = Off
Dynamic Contrast = Off
Gamma = 0
Color Space = Custom
Red: R33 - G0 - B0
Green: R18 - G52 - B0
Blue: R11 - G0 - B51
Yellow: R49 - G53 - B0
Cyan: R22 - G46 - B56
Magenta: R37 - G0 - B43

Xycc = Off

WHITE BALANCE

R-Offset = 26
G-Offset = 25
B-Offset = 22
R-Gain = 30
G-Gain = 25
B-Gain = 25

PICTURE OPTIONS

Color Tone = Warm 2
Digital N/R = Off
HDMI Black Level = Low (actually it's disabled when playing Blu-ray)<-- set this according to your source! If you use a PC, or aPS3/Xbox360 with expanded RGB levels, you might need to set this tonormal!
Film Mode = off (disabled)
Blue Mode = Off

Energy Saving = Medium
Entertainment modes = Off

Hope this helps!!

27'' RCA appears out of focus on the vertical Edges of the Screen

I've seen this on many computer CRTs as they age past 6 years. I would imagine that the gun alignment is out. Are all the colors (RGB) fuzzy, or is it hard to tell?

1. Sometimes, extreme settings of contrast or color (usually to offset low output from aging CRT) can appear to unfocus your screen. Adjust color/contrast down if they are maxed out or close to highest setting/pot level.

2. A very likely culprit is unshielded speakers are too close to the screen. If this is the cause, the speakers' magnets distort the part of the screen closest to them (sides), and it will get better/worse as you move the speakers away/closer to the TV. If there are not magnets near the TV, and degauss function does not fix problem ('89 TVs have degauss?), see #3.

3. The focus can be set by adjusting the flyback transformer. As an experienced electrician, you should know about the dangers of messing with the insides of the unit.

If this fails, you might have other bigger issues. I'd suggest a nice trip to lead reclaimer if so. I'd say 19 years is quite a life for a CRT.

it depends on what your using it for, adjust colour tones to what you think looks natural, contrast between 80-90, keep sharpness below 30. just have a play around till you find what best suits the source material.
