Well without knowing the card, i can tell you this. I have a 8800gt 512mb, 4gb's ram and a 3ghz c2d e6600 and i get an average 42fps using the in game benchmark. It depends really what resolution you want to play at. I play at 1440 x 900. You would need at least a nvidia 8600gts or Ati equivalant card to play the game. Also a core 2 duo is definately needed to play this game smoothly- better yet if you have a core 2 quad. If you are using a laptop then I could almost certainly guess that it wont work. If you have a pc using intel graphics then it wont work either.
your card is probably overheating. the alphadog editon has an extremly small cooling for the gpu. try cleaning it with a caned air spray and check the NVIDIA control panel to see the temp. of the GPU if the problem is solved try running a game benchmark to see if that works.
Nvidia's recommendations for the 8800GT are 26 Amps (I think) on the 12V rail... Although you would think 20 Amps would be enough, my next step would be to uninstall the video card driver again, get yourself a copy of a program called Driver Cleaner dot net, run the program in safe mode to completely remove all of the Nvidia driver, then reboot into Windows, download the latest WHQL driver for your card from nvidia's website, and see if that fixes it. If not, either try the card in a system with a more powerful power supply, or get a more powerful power supply, and see if your error goes away.
Hi Juan016, you have done everything right. I'd say the 8800GT is bad & return it for a refund. Run the 8600GT & the NVIDIA 6100 at the same time. If you check the middle of page 9 in your manual. NOTE: It states; if a PCI-E is inserted the bios will automatically run the PCI-E card. (No need to make a bios setting change). It also says if you change the setting in the bios to, OnChip and PCIe VGA, the motherboard should run both. Depending what amount of memory you set the NVIDIA to run with. Once in windows check the amount of total memory the NVIDIA or 8600GT reports. Example: You set the NVIDIA to use 64MB & the 8600GT has 512MB than the NVIDIA or the 8600GT should show 576MB. Its not that uncommon one buys a bad video card. Reading the manual & windows not seeing the 8800GT tells me the bios did not see the 8800GT card. The card is bad. You’re doing just fine.
I have tried FEAR, no problems at full tilt settings.. Using the control panel settings to default may not always be the best solution. Check your 1st question thread for some additional solutions I provided.. I think it may be a heat issue.
