Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
You might want to be careful doing this. Most newer laptops don't, but some older model laptops use the battery as a sort of "buffer" to help stabilize the voltage coming from the power supply. If the battery's not in place, a sudden voltage spike or surge could toast something in your computer. I know it's a hassle, but I'd recommend you contact Dell to find out their opinion on this for your particular model.

In one word - YES!
Very handy when your battery is dead - or just very heavy to carry around... :)
If it doesn't work for you - something;s probably bad with the power adapter or with the laptop itself.
