SOURCE: Nintendo ds hinge fix
My sons ds hinge broke and i taped the console, he removed the tape and eventually he broke the cable and the black wire. we bought another case and a new cable and replaced them both and now the ds only flicks on then goes off. we assume its the wire,as its a small coaxial one,we soldered it together. it charges fine but wont power up any more,we have tinkered with it so many times and cant get a result. I am currently trying to find a repairer to look at it. I dont recommend repairing it yourself to save money, put the money towards a repairer.

You may have not put a connector back on properly....
Go there and read it through - there are also other walk-throughs for repairs on this site that are very thorough.
Best of luck

No, there is too much pressure. But you can buy new cases. I have fixed three this way. The procedure is not for the squeemish, but here is how to dissassemble it:
Cases are available on ebay or many gamer sites. You will also need a triwing screwdriver, also available in the same manner.
www.gamersection.ca is one example, but certainly not the only.
If you want to do this and you are not handy, I strongly suggest you find someone who is.

Nintendo will fix the hinges depending on a few things, first thing would be to determine how the hinges were broken. The hinges are tested before they leave the factory, the only way that they actually break would be because of physical damage/impact. Physical damage is not covered under the manufact warranty so you would get a discounted price depending on if your under warranty or not. Regardless giving them a call and having their techs fix them will be the best bet, not only because you know it will be fixed right and your warranty will start over the day it gets repaired.
