1986 dodge d100 225 engine dodge oil light goes off when idle stays on when giving it gas

It sounds like the oil sending unit is bad. the safest way to check it is to pull out the sending unit and install an oil pressure gage directly to the motor start it up, bring the RPMs up and see what the oil pressure is. Ideally you want at least 15 psi at an idle and prefereably anything above 25 psi at crusing RPM.

Jumping Idle, Unstable air temp and running hot

Yes it helps the A/C when stoped at a stop light idling . the cooling fan coming on pulls air through the A/C condensor taking away the heat . Before replacing the fan , check to see if it is indeed bad by jumping the socket where the relay plugs into . Pull the the relay an look on the bottom , you will see four sets of numbers 30 &87 plus 85 & 86 . 30 & 87 are the two you want . Take a paper clip or a piece of 12 gage wire an jump 30 to 87 if the fan runs it's OK if not replace it . Just replaced fan on my 05 cavalier last summer .

Engine idles fine till you turn on a.c. then slow & shakes badly

Hello good sir or mam

So here is goes when you turn on your ac system you put a harder load on you engine as it engages the ac compressor clutch. That being said if you are low on freon your ac compressor will be harder to turn as refrigerant contains oil for your system too.

You may also want to check your serpentine belt as a worn belt will cause this to look for frays, cracks,or a depth Gage. also you may need a tune up check your spark plugs, igniton coil, and or distributor cap & rotor if applicable older models.

You may also need to replace your idle air control valve as it can definatlly cause this

well i hope it helps if so please leave 4 thumbs up

Hopefully fixed the problem by setting the idle a little higher. I think the IACV is ok.

Problem with idle

engine coolant temp. sensor is probly cracked it will cause the idle to race, car may smoke, and at time could be hard to start.. It is about 15 dollars, and it is located on the right side of the head if you are looking at the engine.. pull it out you will be able to see if the tip of the ceramic tip is cracked.

No Heat in 99 Taurus

Just finished fixing my daughters 1999 taurus heat. It would blow warm only when running down the road. At idle it blew cold. I started with replacing thermostat, and water pump because they are the easier fix. Still did not help. Then I replaced the heater core. A daunting job but not that hard to move the dash slighly out of the way to replace. There is a good write up at tarusclub.com. After that, heat was better but at idle, it would still blow cool sometimes. Researched and found answer. Park car on the steepest hill you can find with front of car up. Start car and take off reservoir cap. Let car warm up and keep rpms about 1500. After a while the fluid will come running out of the car and all over the place but it will bring air bubbles with it. Reduce rpm, add more fluid and repeat about 3 times. It will make a mess but after that, the heater works perfectly. We get heat long before the temp gage indicates any and it never blows cold unless you lower the temp.
