Hi,

I suggest try to do a Hard Reset on the machine by Press and Holding the power button for about a minute without the battery and power supply. If still doing the same thing try to load to BIOS and if still not working it could be the machine is already faulty. I recommend to call the manufacturer of the machine.

Acer Aspire C-AM5910 with Windows 7; the Screen Saver comes and goes. Sometimes it works, mostly not. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Marina

Turn it off and turn it back on (the screen saver that is. Any action on the keys or with the mouse will restart the timer. When I walk across my floor in my house, the mouse senses the motion and resets ... just as an example of my esperience with the sensitivity of the computer.

There must be some way I can use this technology to make $!

My computer keeps telling me to type in a password every few mins

I suspect that you have your computer set to go to a power-saving mode in a very short time and then have password protection enabled to resume normal operation. In the Control Panel, find the screen saver option (I suspect you can also get there from righ clicking on any unused section of the display and choose Graphics Properties and go from there). Uncheck the box for "On resume, display logon screen"; also adjust the wait time to one that better suits your usage.

I hope this helps.

Vista 64bit. A few days old. Now getting a blank white square in middle of desktop. If I refresh desktop, background image again fills desktop until I open another window, and then it is back.

That is very strange. I have seen virues do strange things with the desktop and screen savers before. Boot into safe mode (press F8 before Vista Logo comes up) See if you get the same problem.

Turn off any screen savers you have and run a full virus scan.

If this still doesn't fix it search for the system restore wizard in the windows help. Follow the instructions and pic a recent restore point. It should create a restore point each time you install something new.

This will remove the configuration (but not the files) for anything you have installed since the restore point. But one of those programs may have been the cause or your problem. So reinstall one at a time and test inbetween.

Good luck

Screen saver will not come on

It sounds like you have some program running in the background that is preventing your screen saver from showing. This could be a virus scan, or some other program you unknowingly downloaded from the internet....(spyware, etc). Check to make sure nothing is running in background and do a full scan for virus, spyware, etc.

Computer screen saver

If you're looking for a folder in which to make a screen saver accessible,

drag ad drop the file [or unzip the file] into: Logical Drive, i.e.,

Local Disk C:\ WINDOWS.

Once you place the screen saver into the WINDOWS folder it'll be

accessible from START.....CONTROL PANEL.....DISPLAY or

Right Click an empty spot on your desktop.....click PROPERTIES

.....SCREEN SAVER.....then click the downward pointing arrow

under heading "screen saver" and it should appear in that list.

Power save mode problem -- during the PC boot up

Hi Geekman,

Thank you very much for the quick follow up. I am very sorry that I couldn't update the issue on time as I was very busy on my work.

My problem was solved even I am not sure what was happened to me.
As I wrote down before, I left my computer disconnected to all power cable (power supply cable and monitor cable) on Nov. 18 at 5 am. This afternoon I connected monitor's power cable and main AC power cable, and turned on main AC power; then the bios check and memory check had appeared on the screen, and also asked for resetting the COMS. After I have reset all parameters, the computer is boot up as before and had the Windows Advance Options Menu (I didn't hit F8). I chose boot as "last knowing ...", after I had the desktop, then I went to Control Panel ... > to switch off the Screen Saver. Now everything is fine. I don't know if the length of the time of the disconnected power was the key point. Until now, I still do not know what is the correct scenario (the exact step by step) of clear COMS. I checked with websites, seems like there are so many different ways to do it (more than four ways). Does this mean every way is correct or can I say COMS can be cleared in any way?
Thank you again,
