During the course of the movie the menu keeps poping up on the screen with the frequency increasing towards the end of the movie. I installed the new firmware for the blue ray player. Wondering if this is software or the blue ray disc?
Make sure that the blu ray player is indicating that the latest firmware is installed on it. Press the setup button go to settings and down to version. Then record the version number. If it is the most current firmware version number after all call 800-237-4277 pressing 1 for all of the prompts. Inform the representative that with the firmware version number installed on your bluray player you are having this problem with Avatar. This helps because Sharp is
gathering information on any occurrences after an update and they are working on another update to resolve any occurrences
I have further information regarding Avatar on certain units. It appears to be saving some sort of bookmark when the movie is stopped. I don't know what model number you have but on these two model numbers this is how to remedy that:
On the BDHP22U and BDHP210U, to temporarily resolve this issue, use the following procedure to clear the memory:
a. With the player on, press [Menu]
b. Select "Settings"
c. Select "Software Reset" in the list of menu settings. (the hard reset performed by holding in the "Power" button for 5 seconds does not work to resolve this issue, it has to be done through the menu).
d. Allow the player to reset and turn itself off. Once it restarts, it should be able to load and read the disc.
