It appeared that the radiator at the top was loose. I put some brackets into the extra space so the radiator wouldn't move. This morning when I started it, it began to blow white smoke. I removed the brackets and the smoke stopped. Why?

Dont think the bracket had anything to do with that, try and start with out bracket in am again, the white smoke maybe coolant entering the combustion chamber as it sits, this may be caused by a leaking intake gasket or a bad head gasket, also oil leaking down the valve guide or getting past the rings would cause this but the white smoke would have a tint of blue, good luck,

Testimonial: "Thank you for your quick responce. The smoke continued this morning and I had removed the bracket last night. After the car warms up the smoking seems to quit, at least it is't visable. Going to the repair shop this afternoon. Again, thank you so much for being prompt with your answer. Mark"

What's the cost to repair cracked radiator for 1996 cadillac deville

I replaced mine about a month ago, yuck plastic....... you can order one at rockauto.com prices range from $79 to $194 myself I got the $112 one with about $10 shipping and fast about 3 business days
to install
1. Two motor mounts on top 3 bolts each one 13mm heads take out and and fold bock over
2. There is an electrical gadget on the front brace in the center mounted down with 2
bolts with a 10mm heads remove and lay aside
3. Remove the positive battery cable and lay aside
4. Remove the top radiator hose at the radiator and bend back over
the motor.
5. Remove the top transmission fluid line to the radiator 5/8" will
do it.
6. Remove the bottom radiator completely and set aside.
7. Remove the bottom tranny fluid line and raise up to prevent
spilling out fluid, it will tuck in, up or fluid will run out.
8. Remove the top bolts on fans, 10mm, unplug the connection. The fans are bolted at the top and sets in a rubber slot at the bottom,
they will come out by moving them to your left one at a time.
9. 3 bolts holds the top bracket on the radiator 10mm they are under
the brace, lean back toward the motor and lift out bracket, the radiator is not ready yet to come out, there is a AC condensing coil
bracket on each side in front helt by 2 screws 7mm take these
screws out and lean the radiator more towards motor and you
will see how these little brackets are helt in place just lift straight
up and remove... OK lift the radiator out, watch out for the 2
little rubber saddles that the radiator sets in on bottom
10. remember nothing bolts down at the bottom all on top
Good Luck
P.S. carb cleaner is a good way to clean the greasy gunk off

How to remove the radiator without removing the a/c evaporator/condensor, if possible.

Yes, take the radiator fan loose and remove it from engine compartment, then take radiator hoses and transmission lines loose, then take radiator brackets off, take off the a/c line bracket that attaches to radiator then move it towards driverside and you should get it out, the A/C condensor will be hanging there so be careful not to damage it in the process.

The radiator on my 1998 Honda CRV is loose. What

If you have about 1/8" of slop that is normal. If it is worse than that do you have the rubber spacers on the top posts of the radiator that go in the holes of the radiator mounting brackets. If you need to you can remove your mounting brackets and bend them down a bit to add tension. This will calm some of the slop down; you want it to move a little bit as the vehicle flexes and hits bumps. A fully stiff radiator will soon be a broken radiator.

Easiest way to get the alternator out of a '97 3000 gt sohc?

Manual says to remove the radiator but if you remove the bolts holding the radiator and push it out of the way it is possible to remove the alternator through the top but it takes some work to wiggle it out.

2006 ford explorer

after disconnecting the three hoses and the 2 transmition lines from the radiator there should be two bolts holding the top bracket on and the same for the bottom. ( note that you will more than likely have to take the clutch fan off in order to pull the radiator out, and you will have to remove the cover under the radiation on the bottom on the explorer to get to the bottom bracked bolts.)
