Question about Kodak Digital Science DC260 Zoom Digital Camera

1 Answer

Someone plugged this Digital Camera into a 220v socket and tried to take a picture. It was a DC260 model. Can you tell me what's wrong and tell me where to get parts?

I plugged it in with the power cord that goes with the camera. I tried to use it with batteries and that didn't work either.

I plugged it in with the power cord that goes with the camera. I've tried it with batteries and it still doesn't work.

It says AC Adapter on it. Cat#122-0557.

I've tried batteries in it, but it still didn't work. I will try new batteries in it tonight. In the mean time, will you tell me what the next level of damage could be?

  • mapleviewii May 21, 2010

I know, but when I tried it with batteries it still didn't work. Last night, however, I tried it with new batteries and the camera worked! Thanks for all of your time, I will sign up for the one year membership the next time I need help.

The Adapter did get knocked out. I thought there was more damage because when I tried the batteries that were in the camera box, it still didn't work. Now that I've tried new batteries, I realize that the other batteries were bad.

You did not tell me what the problem was. Was it rated for a 120V supply? Digicams are usually charged by an adapter so incase of a power surge, the adapter is the only thing that is knocked out. Let me know if its something else.

What about the adapter? DO you use a adapter or just plug it by means of a normal plug?

Can you get me an image of the power cord you are using so that I can ascertain if its an adapter type?

Thats it. Then you just have to get a new adapter. It is unlikely that the camera is damaged as the adapter has a ceramic fuse rated 120V as well as protectors to guard against the surges. So just get a new adapter and you should be fine.

I am not talking about the batteries. I am talking about the adapter, the wire thingy that you plug into the camera.

Great to hear that. You don't know how lucky you are as usually excess voltage knocks out the adapter. Good to know its just the batteries. Thank you for using Fixya!

    Cheers,

Not an adapter. You need a voltage converter to convert 220Vac to 120VAc.

My screen shows a blurry picture and it takes a blurry picture. it didnt used to. what is wrong? how do i fix it?

I have the exact same problem. When I was in NY last fall, suddenly my camera would only take blurry pictures. I hadn't changed any settings or anything. I can get halfway decent pictures in Auto mode, but any of the other settings only take blurry pictures. Apparently a lot of people have this problem, but no one knows how to solve it...

The 110v transformer was inserted into 220v socket!

You have damaged the system beyond economical repair. There are so many components inside that have fried that it is impossible to repair. Sorry. That's what happens when you overvolt an electronic circuit.

I found the same problem. I was able to solve it by adjusting settings as follows: Go into 'Camera Settings' - top right blue button in video view. You need the 'Camera Setup' tab. Click 'Source' button. Click 'Advanced Settings' tab. 'Banding filter' - check 'Outdoor'. 'OK' your way out.
