Question about NorStar Meridian M7310 Phone

Nortel (norstar) m7310 - General delivery vm and individual vm

We have 4 pots lines coming into our office. We are using nortel (norstar) m7310 phones. I want 3 of the lines to get answered by the general delivery voicemail and one line to forward to an individual subscriber. right now all lines get picked up by the general delivery voicemail box. Any help is appreciated!

    the voicemail is not provided by my pots provider. we have the nortel vm. i log in by doing a F983, or F**266344. This is where I add voicemail to different extensions, and where we have the general delivery voicemail box set up.

    We do not get voicemail from our pots provider. We log into the nortel vm by doing F983 or F**266344. This is where we add individual subscriber voicemail and where we update the general delivery vm box. customer service will not help me in this area.

    We do not use auto attendant. the way general delivery voicemail works is that when its activated if the phones ring with no answer and there is no voicemail set up on any of the extensions the general delivery voicemail will pick up so that a message can be left. We have all 4 extensions set that way. When I try to assign a subscriber voicemail box to extension 4 and activate it, it then picks up for all of the 4 lines when they are not answered. I want line 4's subscriber voicemail to answer for line 4 only, and the general delivery voicemail to continue to be the voicemail for lines 1-3.

    I made lines 1-3 appear only and line 4 appear and ring on the subscribers phone. I went to the receptionists phone and had lines 1-3 appear and ring and line 4 appear only. i then set the vm on line 4 to pick up after 3 rings and general delivery to pick up after 4. this allowed line 4 to forward to the subscriber mail while lines 1-3 remained forwarded to the general delivery mailbox. Again thanks for your help!

    solution #2: I do not understand why you would want me to accept your solution so you can get paid if you did not solve my problem. my problem was solved by solution #4 which i accepted. Have a good day.

I saw this question come up earlier,but it was locked to someone else. What you could do is create the new mailbox on the new set. Then, if the set isn.t going to have lines 1-3 ring, program line 4 to ring on this set and take the ringing appearence off the receptionist set. If the receptionists set still needs line 4 to ring then change the call forward no answer on the new set to 3 rings and still have it ring on line 4 only.

In our company we have programmed the same thing but thats on EPBAX. The VM goes kindly press * followed by extn or wait for the operator. In your case since the media is different hence you have go with the following
You have to access the Telephone User Interface. Then select General. You have to set number of digits in a mailbox. The number of digits have to match the extension number on customer's PBX. You can choose enable/disable Automated Attendant and Call back Notifications feature.

Once, you enable the automated attendant,
you can program it.
Check Feature 983>102000>AA>Lines>insert the line number>press table soft key
To put in the auto message greetings 983>102000>AA>Table>Table 1>Greeting Type
The greeting type has everything to do with the automated response. Since, you asked to forward all the calls to a different number then first you have to disable the auto VM as provided above and you have to use the call forwarding feature in which you can give the specific number to which you wish to forward the calls.
Under any case if the auto VM is a separate hardware to which all your phones are connected then you are required to disconnect the phone for which you wish to use the call forwarding feature.

    Kindly go through my first para again. Auto response start after specified number of rings only. I just wanted to confirm do you use any additional hardware for recording messages and activating auto response.

A Nortel Key Service Unit, an ICS (MICS,CICS), BCM (50,100 etc), Norstar (308,616,824), an Avaya IP Office running Nortel cards, or there is another company that makes a Nortel emulation key system but I can't recall what it is right now.

Incoming calls on Line 4 are ringing in personal office and mail line. I want it only to ring on Mail line . Our phone is a Norstar M7310. Thanks Sherrie

Search through General Options until you find Ringing options.
Type in the extension number of your personal office.
scroll to line 4 choose turn ringer to off, and rls! Let me know if you need clarification on how to find Ringers in General Options.

Unfortunatly Nortel system phones cannot work wireless with the exception of thier wireless set which still require a jack/port for the base unit.

What module do I need to purchase to get called ID on my M7310


The Norstar 616 system was made before CLID was readily available. You could however, purchase a Nortel CICS system with CLID card(s). CI trunk cards handle up to 4 lines per card making the capacity of the system 8 lines by 16 stations.The CICS system will work with the existing m7310 sets you have so you wouldn't have to incur the cost of new telephones.

Have Norstar M7310 5 line phone 2 lines say they


You need to unplug something, just not the phone.

The two lines are probably conferenced together. Go find the gray Nortel cabinet and pull the plug on it.

Could be two things, there could be a general delivery mailbox attached to the system which is mail box 100, or the new service provider has a off premisis voicemail attached to the lines. if there is VM on the lines you should get a stuttered dial tone on the line indicating that you have a voice mail.

Cannot print a report from the Nortel Norstar M7310 phone system.


The vm needs to be acknowledged by the printer that it has received the print, verify the settings are correct on the printer and their are no errors on the printer. you may have to restart the vm if no problems can be found with the printer.

Norstar Mailbox Problem


The mailboxes don't need to have saved messages, to be full. More then likely what is happening is that when people call in, they are getting a generic/Auto Attendant vm box, and that one is full. Try checking vm box #100, or #10. That is the Nortel standard general delivery vm box. Please let me know is this helps, or if you more help.
