Question about Panasonic PT-AE700U Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Panasonic PT-AE700U stopped in the middle of a movie. NO blinking lamp or temp light. I checked to see if power was coming into the unit - it was. I checked the filter - it had dust on it so I cleaned it. That did not fix the problem. I let the unit rest over night. This morning I powered it up and there was a slow flashing green and yellow STAND-BY LIGHT along with a quiet sound from the lens/iris area. Any idea on what I can do? BTW, I replaced the lamp two years ago; it should still be good.

What you have there is the projector is preparing for projection, let it prepare for 5 minutes or so, it should turn on by then, it might be a powersupply issue, So you replaced the lamp 2 years ago, so I take this is about 4 or 5 years old? some of the components, possibly capacitors (often first to go out) might need to be replaced.

basically if the unit doesn't turn on, wait 5 minutes, unplug, wait 5 minutes, plug back in and turn on, wait 5 minutes, if its still not turning on repeat once more.

After that I personally would start taking the projector apart, the lamp I suspect is good, take it out first so that you don't accidentally break it, if your going to open it up.

When you get the projector apart, check all the capacitors that they are flat, stay away from the 200-400 volt big one.

How to get the projector apart.. Start by removing all screws in the unit, check for hidden screws under soft objects, labels, possibly covers as well. casing may be hold together with plastic clips that you can open / release with a plastic stick or a case opening tool often used with cell phones. Or a flat head screwdriver if you don't care if the plastic gets a bit banged up.

if any of the caps is not completely FLAT on the top, it would need to be replaced as it might be the issue why its not powering on properly.

you need to carefully inspect the surfaces of the caps carefully as its not always easy to spot a faulty one.

Another option, if you don't wish to DIY is to take it to a repairer. as this is something that won't get solved by pushing buttons.

My new lamp from Opto Lamps has a plastic tab on the top stopping the cover from closing, do I have to brack this off?

I had the exact same issue with my new Panasonic PT-AE700u bulb. I contacted the company I purchased it from and they authorized the removal of the tab. I used my Dremel tool to slice it off and the bulb ended up working like a charm.

If everything else fits fine...the door just doesn't close, check with the company you purchased the bulb from and see what they recommend. This sounds like a common issue with "OEM" or "Original" bulbs these days.

PT-AE700E projector appears to have gone kaput - not lighting up.

Because of high voltages and heat, there are many safety circuits inside these units. If you have a spare lamp, try replacing the lamp. Initial checks are made before the lamp is fired and sometimes a defective lamp can cause this. Also, can you descruibe what you mean by "noisier than usual"? Is the fan making more noise? Something elase making a noise?

Permanent blue hue down one side of screen PT ae700 panasonic replaced lamp made no differance tried compressed air no change please help

if the discoloration has a sharp pixelated edge, it may be the lcd panel. if the edge blends, it's the light filter (polarizer) that is burnt from excessive heat and dust. either one needs replacing.

PT-AE700U No Power

Hi ErnieN008

If there is no LED's flashing or even lighting up for that matter , then it could just be the fuse on the Poersupplyboard that has gone.

You can replace this fuse by opening up the top cover and looking for the board with the AC inlet on it.

If the problem however still exists , you will have to replace the powersupply.

My Panasonic PT- 50LC13 doesn't turn on

Your service manual on page 82 steps you through decoding the blinking
1) there are two lights on the front near the reciever of the remote signals (Temp indicator and Lamp Indicator)
2) If the Temp indicator is on then they recommend you contact a service center
3) If the Lamp indicator is on and the power light stays on (no blinking) then you need to replace the lamp. Otherwise it says to contact the service center.
4) Counting blinks with the lamp indicator (1 every 5sec - lamp will not light or is abnormal, 2 every 5sec - lamp voltage is abnormal, 3 every 5sec - lamp temp is too high, 4 every 5sec - other error)
