Question about Troy Bilt Tb70ss Gas Trimmer

Open Question

I have a tb90bc trimmer. when I push the primer bulb it will not pop fully back out and it has very little gas in the bulb. The trimmer will not start, but I'm sure that not being able to prim is the problem. I just need to know how to fix. I have changed the bulb, that did not work. Need a little help!

Sounds like you need to take the carb. apart and clean it. I like to use a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), to clean the small ports in carb. they work great for this job. Make sure to either clean or replace the small screen in thcarb. as well.

SOURCE: I have a gas trimmer. It starts but will not stay

Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
Please rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helped

The fuel line may not have a good seal to the fuel tank.

What would make the primer bulb stick and not return to normal position

Dirt and dust usually - but sometime the heat from the engine and sometime the heat from the elements cause it - you can take the gas cap off and push it - it should pop out or get a Phillips screwdriver and just remove it and pop it out clean it and put it back on the unit

Carburator will not prime

Could be a few things: Got enough petrol? The petrol MUST be above the filter in the tank. You need about 3/4 " of petrol. Or the filter could be blocked. To check, disconnect the fuel line at the back of the primer bulb, and see if the fuel flows freely. But first make sure that you have something to catch the fuel. AND NO SMOKING!!! Or the bulb might be perished, and letting in air. In this case, disconnect the two fuel lines, taking note of which one went where, pull the little lugs on the side of the bulb holder so that the bulb comes out, and simply reverse all that with the new bulb. My Husqvarna 128LD primer bulb will not fill with gas

The primer bulb does not have to be full of fuel for the carburetor and trimmer to operate correctly. The actual function of the purge/primer bulb is to help pull fresh fuel into the carburetor while at the same time, push old fuel/air out of the carb and back to the fuel tank. You may have bad check valves in the primer base assembly but, the machine can even operate if the bulb is only even 1/2 full or so...Make sure the fuel is moving in only one direction during and after the bulb is pushed and released. If it's not....bad check valves. These valves are very small and fragile and easily damaged by strong solvents, high PSI compressed air...and carburetor bath type cleaners. You didn't state whether the machine will start, run, what have you. Repost if needed. Please vote on this solution.

Problem with primer bulb

Reverse the line connections at the primer bulb. Look carefully, the long port has the line going to the tank, the short port on the bulb will connect with the fuel line to the carb.

Primer bulb doesn't pump gas

Does the primer bulb pop back out or does it come out slowly? Is the inline hose in good shape or has a crack where it can **** air in? Did you check to see if the diaphgram in the carb is pliable or is it paper-like and needs replaced. Or your carb could be stopped up.
Only one problem..I can't think of any weedtrimmer that has an inline fuel filter. They are usually located in the gas tank.
