Hi. I have had a few cases where the brake pad will be stuck to the body with rust if it has been sitting in a damp room. A few taps with a small screw driver has fixed this. Put the machine in free-wheel first.
Does the machine bring up any fault codes, or is it too old for that feature. Possibly the brake unit has a short and has been getting too hot.
Does the brake unit have a micro switch on it? Try removing the brake unit off the motor, but leave it connected to the wiring. This will tell you if anything else is faulty. Leave the machine up on blocks while doing this, so you dont have an accident.
Good luck. Neil.

hi, they are good readings, the brake resistance is a bit low...however does the brake click when moving the throttle lever to go forward or backwards ?

if the brake is not releasing the scooter will never move...

does the throttle lever feel loose ? you need to convince yourself that the throttle part is working correctly , if you double checked everything including the brake and connectors then we need to look at the controller ..

I do offer a free testing service...

The error lite on Buzzaround Lite scooter flashing

5 flash code is the electro magnetic Brake. This is referring to the brake on the motor that can be released by the freewheel lever.

1. place the freewheel lever into the free wheel position. Ensure the scooter is in free wheel and move the scooter forwards and backwards a few times.

2. Place the freewheel lever in drive position, push on scooter to ensure it is in drive and does not move. Turn on key and press the throttle. If you have the same code again, call a technician to check the brake, chances are it needs replaced.

Most of these chairs have a clutch release lever near the motors. Move it into free-wheeling and it should roll nicely.

Brake system of a scooter

There is a parking brake lever at the back, but if you're talking about stopping the scooter while riding it, there are no separate brakes.
taking your finger off the power lever turns the electric motor into an electric generator which slows and stops the scooter very quickly.

The brake is controlled by the position of the fwd/reverse throttle paddles.
There is a pot inside that the paddles attach to..if the pot is not
centred the brake doesn't work properly when the paddles are
released. I had the same problem on my Pride Legend XL..
had to order the throttle pot from MonsterScooter, com.
Installed it myself and that cleared my electric brake problem.

Scooter won't move

Things to check: Drive/Free wheeling switch, brake release lever (this activates an internal micro-switch that enable power to the drive system, battery box connectors (condition of contacts - corroded, missing, loose. etc.); main control cable (corrosion. lose or missing pins, etc). If all these are OK, could be controller or drive control potentiometers (speed, forward, backward) on the handle-bar (tiller).
Good luck!

I would suspect that the brake is not releasing causing your problem. When you place the handle in freewheel and you can't push the scooter easily then the brake pad is stuck on the motor housing. If you are able remove the seat and back cover remove the drive wheel on the side of the scooter nearest the freewheel lever usually the right side. you should be able to see the brake attached to the end of the motor with 3 or 4 hex head screws. take the brake off the end of the motor and carefully leave the wiring attached ( don't break or remove the wires going to the brake or the scooter will not run at all) remove the brake and place or tie it up where it won't fall or drag. Put the drive wheel back on and turn the scooter on and see if it will now move. If it moves like it should you will have to replace the brake. You can drive the scooter like this but remember you do not have brakes so the scooter can roll backwards or forward when not on and especially on ramps Hope this helps

Hi. Are there other faults as well? Maybe you should get another quote from a different technician, or ask him if he has any second hand parts available.
If you use it, and you cant control it, you end up down a bank or under a bus.
What brand and model is it?
Sometimes the brake disc in the brake unit splits and allows the machine roll on. Sometimes the brake lever has had a bump, and just needs to be pushed back into place properly.
Try contacting the authorised service people for this scooter, and get some prices from them. Good luck. Neil.
