Hi,

Carriage belt is not a user replaceable part. Hence you cannot replace it by yourself. This unit should be repaired by an HP authorized technician. Please contact the nearest service center to repair it. But I think the repair cost is close to the price of a new printer.

I have a HP psc 2175v printer and it says i have a carriage jam. There is no paper in the printer all at this point and the ink carriage moves back and forth fine, the ink was removed adn replaced but...

The cartridges might not be moving back to there rest stop correctly, check the sponge to the far right Also The clear plastic strip running behind the carriage could be damaged or dirty. this strip tells the printer where the carriage is and if it can not read it, it will cause that message.
Hope this helps

I have a carriage jam

Hi there,

Well you can please follow the below steps -
1. Follow this document for a carriage jam problem (follow the link -)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00042632

2. Try the firmware update, this resolves many carriage and "remove and check cartridge" problems.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?dlc=en&lc=en&os=228&product=90809&lang=en&cc=us&softwareitem=oj-14037-3

3. If the carriage movement is normal, remove the cartridges and clean the copper contacts with soft cloth and distilled water and replace them."Remove and check cartrdige" should be resolved.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!!

The narrow rubber drive belt in my HP PSC 2210 has broken.

I have an HP Photosmart 7550 and the carriage drive belt stripped then broke. Efforts to find a replacement belt were in vain. So, with nothing to lose, I glued the ends back together (just to hold them in place) and sewed a thin piece of nylon tape, maybe 1.5" long, over the break. Just folded it over the belt and made 3 lengthwise passes with a normal sewing machine. Installed the belt with the splice in a spot where it will never see the toothed drive wheel. And it works perfectly!

HP PSC 2175 Cartridge Belt

Ok, I will try to explain how I fixed mine as best as I can. I took it all apart and realizing that the belt moved the cartridge carriage I thought 'hmmmm' and took the belt, cleaned it and the cartridge carriage and in the channel on the carriage where the belt sits (sort of W shaped) I put some 'Gorilla glue' and put the broken ends down into the glue. I let it set up for about 6 hours and my printer has been back up and running ever since. That fixed the broken cartridge carriage belt for me. Now if the other belt breaks then I guess I will have to break down and buy another printer but after 6 years of service I can't complain. And yes I have been refilling now for over 4 years. I hope this helps.
