Actually this notebook is not officially designed to work on Windows XP, however there are some unofficial drivers available for windows XP, you may try downloading the sound drivers from:
http://sites.google.com/site/sriksang/software/drivers

I'd recommend to install all the drivers from this page.
In case the drivers on this site do not work, let me know I shall provide you other links to the drivers.

Please rate this solution.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hi i have hp pavilion dv6500 vista i changed it to windows xp and now i cant play any sound there is no sound device

When you are going from vista back to xp windows it is hard to find the supported device drivers. The only thing I can suggest is go to www.hp.com to see if they support xp audio driver, failing that do a google search for your make and model to see if somebody has come up with a solution.

How to get audio using HDMI.

*How to get Audio using HDMI*

  • First we need to find out what oprating system your computer has.
Note: make sure that the LCD TV/Montior where you are using HDMI is set to HDMI imput as well.

Windows XP:
  • First make sure that the HDMI cable is already connected to the Computer from the HDTV.
  • In Windows XP lower right side look for the speaker icon then right click on it. then select Properties or Playback Devices
  • We should get the Sound and Device Properties window on the Sound window there will be settings and TABS that are for your Audio configuration.
  • Look for the Tab that will say Voice then on the windows look for the drop down that will say Default Device and select your HDMI from that List.
  • Since this is for XP your will have to restart windows to make the changes take effect.
Windows Vista:
  • In vista on the lower right hand side look for the speaker icon right click on it then select Playback Devices.
  • In the window Sounds Select the TAB that says Playback Devices.
  • A list will be in the Box HDMI should be listed there and should be the first on the list as well on the screen.

  • Just Restart the Computer after the settings for teh HDMI ahs been set to Defauls.

I went from vista to windows xp I had speakers working on vista and when I went to windows xp they didn't work

If the computer hardware was "designed for Vista", it usually means that device-drivers for audio/video/network components for Windows XP will not be available. Switch back to Vista, or upgrade to Windows 7.

Yellow excimation marks under other devices and no sound

Oh! Sorry.
Try to search for the XP Drivers for your Laptop or Return the OS to Windows Vista, some Toshiba Laptops does not have XP Drivers if downgraded from Vista to XP.

your audio driver is not helpful for sound card which is you install on your pc.
plaese change this driver.
all windows have different driver for different devices.
so you install the driver compatible with window vista and sound card.

this is one of the most common problem while downgrading from vista to XP.. get the driver of your sound device...now u can't directly install the setup it wud display no audio device... so do the following...
1. Righty click my computer...click the hardware tab..
2. click device manager... now you will see a yellow mark on the uninstalled audio device. right click on it and update driver from a specific loaction( where you have downloaded your audio driver ).
