Ricoh 5-in-1 Card Reader Driver Upgrade?

Cannot read SanDisk microSD 2GB on HP tv9000t CTO.

I think you are referring to another slot. The card does fit in the slot. The slot is a SD/MMC slot. It handles SD/MMC/Memory Sticks/xD Picture controller, etc,. HP calls this a Digital Media Slot. Ricoh calls it a 5-in-1 card reader. It is NOT the older SD card slot you are referencing. The HP site has a multimedia guide on this.

Looking at the sizes I don't think the SD or MiniSD would fit. The microSD does. My problem may be that I have SD drivers installed but the reader is different. It does react when I remove it giving me a safe to remove ICON, but does not give the pop up menu that is intended. Like the DVD insertion produces.

Any other ideas in this vane?

I have sp34665.exe installed. This newer that the link above as far as I can see. Do you agree?

Yes I Have the same slot as the YouTube movie. The microSD does seem to fit in properly it is a sandisk 2007-06-26D..

Here comes a big DUH. I am 62 with not the vision I once had. Looking at the SanDisk product with my magnifying glass I see that the product I have is the Adaptor. That is why it fits in the slot. I got a three pack when I purchased the SD for my phone.

The actual microSD memory is in the phone. They do not make this clear on the instructions from SanDisk, that you get one memory and two adaptors.

So I don;t get recognition because I have the adaptor with no memory in it.

You are right. None of the techs at HP pointed this out. They were just grumpy. Clearly this is a little more subtle problem, especially if you have not used the card and moved it around much, and your eyes are bad, It must be 4pt font.

Problem has been resolved for 2 months now. Thread s/b archived. I don't need more help.

A couple of things can be learned here, packaging standards do not consider the visually impared., hopefully one day they will be changed. Secondly, define the problem before a lot of effort and frustration results from try to resolve it.

You'll need a microsd-sd adapter, because micro sd does not fit into the reader. There are sd-adapters which don't contain memory themselves, but in which you can place a microsd card

    Is your laptop type dv9000t?
Then i am pretty sure the cardreader does not support micro sd.
Also if you say yourself it is SD/MMC slot, then microSD will not fit...
Are you sure your memory card is microSD?
Just look at this movie for example... At 1:08 he clearly shows that it is SD. If your card slot is different, tell me. Then I am wrong.
Have you installed the HP drivers for the card reader?

  • Thx_nb Mar 28, 2008

I agree, the driver you have is a later version.

I really like the solution of your 'problem'! :-D
It is a little different than other problems ;-)
Couldn't think of such an easy solution (didn't know you age, of course), but I really had to laugh about it :-D

Success with your microSD card and Adapter

There no such thing as archiving questions here.
I understand your problem as you get e-mails if some guest posts a stupid message like above, but as far as I know it's not possible.
If you don't think you have more questions, or if you just don't want to get e-mails from fixya anymore, you can unsubscribe. Check the bottom lines of the mail you get, there is a link there (it's a small font) :D

By the way, could you rate this question for me, if you feel the problem has been solved, you may rate it FixYa...

How to use the built in 5 in 1 card reader in acer extensa 4230? and how to download music into a sandisk microsd 2gb card using the built in card reader inacer extensa 4230?

I am glad to HELP YOU!

That "5 in 1 card reader" is exactly what it says it is: a UNIVERSAL CARD READER.
All you have to do is to insert the card into the slot and the machine will detect it automatically and will read it.
The microSD cards should be inserted first into a microSD card adapter and after that the both should be inserted into the slot.
As for downloading music right on the microSD card do like this:
# insert the microSD card into its adapter [together should look like a regular SD card]
# insert the adapter into the slot
# the machine will detect the SD card [just wait until it is detected]
# choose your song [mp3, wma etc.]
# right-click on the song and where it asks whre to be downloaded you will choose MY COMPUTER > double-click > the letter corresponding to your SD card.
You're done!
Do the same with all songs.

... and don't forget to RATE, please...

I do have 5 years old SD card reader that does not read anything over 1GB. Try to ready your SanDisk memory from a newer computer or laptop that was how I resolved the issue.

Memory card cant be read My 4gb SanDisk microSD memory doesn't read on my computer. I bought it today at Radio Shack.

Are you using a card reader? If yes, you need to isolate the problem. Please follow the steps below:

1. Try connecting your memory card reader into different USB port of the computer.
2. Try using different card reader to see if there's a problem with the card or with the reader.
3. Connect it into different computer.
4. Remove and reinsert the MicroSD in the card reader and make sure that the card is properly seated.
5. If the card reader and the computer are working but still unable to detect the MicroSD, try to reformat the card.
6. If same problem persist, return it to the store and have it replaced.

Have a great day!

Computer cannot detect 2gb microsd memory card

The best option is to buy a USB reader for SD cards. You can buy one at walmart, target, staples, office max, or anywhere that sells hardware. That will make it so it will read it like a USB and not like a card. They are fairly cheap as well. 5-10$?

How do u format sandisk microsd 2gb and microsdhc 4gb disks

You can only form sd Hc if your card reader is approved for SDHC use. It should tell you that on the outside of the card reader or in the documentation of the card reader.

If your drive isn't formatting 2gb, it could be that the driver was designed prior to 2gb cards being released. You could look for a new driver or replace it with a card reader that supports SD HC use as will as a 2 gb SD drive.
