Question about Sony SLV-N50 VHS VCR

One piece was found lose in the sony vcr (sony slv-n51)

When recabling my video/audio system I moved the sony vcr and heard something loose inside .openig the vcr I found the piece. Best description is the following: it is one of the vertical metal roller guides.there are more very similar pieces in place but this one I cannot find where it should go. It also has a plastic piece connected with it that also is vertical but then bends straight at an approx. 45 degree angle. It does not appear broken as there are no rough edges.

My best advice is you should look for the service manual for the model. I would try Manuals in PDF for this, though they do charge, I have used them and they are a good company. Though you could try a web search to see if you can get it free first.
The reason I recomend you get one is not just that you will be able to identify the part straight away, but rather I suspect that the mechanism may have gone out of sync with the damage. And if it has you will have a hell of a job setting the mode switch without a the manual. And if that is not set right then all sorts will go wrong!

Plays for 5 sec, then auto stops, tape is coming out of tape on the inside, then catches the issue and stops

Sound like you have already removed the top to see the problem..
The most common problem is the easiest to fix. If you have small children they love to put toys and just about anything into vcrs money being the most common, I guess mimicking their parents. With tape out and top off look for foriegn objects where the tape load in. You can even turn it upside and shake it.

If you have no young kids or didnt find anything in there abnormal then I would check the idler arm.
Thats the gear that moves freely left and right. Its located between the supply and take up wheels which are what actually fit into the bottom of a VHS tape. Make sure it will move left and right. If thats ok then I dont know what else that you can check unless your experienced in repairing vcr's.

Cost to repair them usually costs more than purchasing a new one.
If your lucky it will just be something foriegn inside..

Vcr tape ejects when i want to record

One possibilty is the record sensor that pushes against the tab on the video tape (the bit you break off to prevent a tape being recorded on) has bent out of shape and the video therefore thinks ALL tapes are pre-recorded or protected and rejects them.

Vcr ejects tape when i try to record.

is the erase protection tab removed from the cassette?
if yes there is a square hole on the back of the tape visible when you insert it.
put a piece of sticky tape over this hole and make shure it does not come loose.
it should record fine now when you insert it again.

Sony SlV-SE730 VCR video inserted wrong way

Unplug the VCR.
Take the cover off by taking out the small screws on the sides and on the back that hold the cover on.
With the cover off you should be able to gently move the tape back out.
Things could be damaged......after the tape is out, you should try it first with a tape that could possibly be damaged during testing and do not touch anything inside while plugged in to power during testing with the cover off!
Now......if it is not a working VCR are in luck.
There are garage sales every weekend...and almost every one has a VCR for almost nothing....some like new.....and boxes and boxes of tapes/movies for very little money too.

Sony SLV-N71 VCR makes a rattling sound (ff, rew)

I make no claim to being any kind of an expert techie but it sounds to me like there are one or more loose or badly worn parts inside your machine. If you haven't had a look at the innards, try that. Loose things can usually be re-secured and, sometimes, worn parts can be replaced.

The easy way is video out of your satellite box or tv monitor. Take this output to any of the video lines in on your VCR.
