Question about Electronics - Others
Please help friends.
my friend once told me that the USB ports in his system are not recognizing any kind of hardware inserted in them.
also any removable disk that is being inserted in his system fails to get detected in other systems also.
but accidentally i inserted my pen drive in his system only after which i remembered of that problem in his system.
NOW COMING TO MY PROBLEM
my pen driver dint detect in any computer for a few days.
failing which i gave to my friend after a week to see at that and help me solve this problem.
he said that he is getting the hardware detected in his system but the hardware is not installing and not getting ready for use.
then i got it from him and inserted in my system. it detected that "new hardware found" but it dint show it in the removable disk list.
once i restart the system it shows in the list of removable disk. but my drives name has been reset as "removable disk" which was named by my name before.
i am not able to open the drive
when i try to open it. it asks.."the disk in drive K is not formated.. do u want to format it now?"
if i select yes and try to format(tried both quick format and normal format)
with a FAT32 file system it is not getting formated. the scroll bar goes till end as if it is going to get finished.
it says a warning msg as
"windows was not able to format this drive."
then i went to computer management and tried to format there using all options.
there also it went till 99% then a error msg popped up saying that
"format dint complete successfully."
this is a jet flash pen drive of transcend of capacity 4GB.
am not able to give a new label to my drive also. when i try to type in the new label space there is no response from my KEY board.
type: removable disk
file system: RAW
used space 0 bytes
free space 0 bytes
drive capacity 0 bytes.
device status in general section is:
This device is working properly.
when i try to do a disk check for error
and i press "start" the window he windows disappears.
I am not able to open or format my remoable drive.please do needfull.

If I understand you right, all you want to do is to successfully complete the format of a 4Gb Jet Flash/Transcend Flash Drive. You were unable to complete it using the Windows built-in format function. Further you can not access, read from or write to the said flash drive.
May I suggest you to use HP Drive Key Boot Utility instead of the Windows built-in format command.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
