Your early solution is not working.( del / f 2 ) keys.pls give a another solution.

I guess by now you have either binned the machine or have found out how, but for anyone else reading this you press the "Esc" key as you power up.

On toshiba laptops you use the F10 key to get into your BIOS SETUP. The generally combinations of BIOS Setup is:

1) DEL (delete key)

2) F2 (F2 Key)

3) F10 (F10 Key)

4) Ctrl + F10 key

I installed two 512MB memory sticks in my toshiba Portege 4010 now it just beeps when I turn it on it worked fine with 256 installed in one stick what gives?


Try just one first and if they are not absolutely identical, they will not work. They must have same batch number, same speed and manufacturer.

Usually one of the following keys right when boot screen is viewed will get you into bios on most computers.
Esc, F2, F10, Del, or F12 which should be the case with the Portege.

Dear Don't worry, there are some options you will have to press or check one by one "F1or F2 or F8 or F10 or F12 or del. Now, You can enter in CMOS setup.

Why uppgrade it? its cheaper to buy an USB wireless network adapter than it is to take down your laptop and upgrade it.

How to goto cmos setup.


Press the ESC key during startup. You should then see a message telling you to press F1. Do so. This will load the Bios settings screens.
