I am using sharp facsimile model FO-P610 for the past two years.recentlythe machine gives problem of noisy noise from ear piece each time I want to make speaker on dial.i have checked with Telecom suspecting that the line is faulty but was told the line was allright but the machine is faulty.is there anyway I can fix it myself.

Enter simulation mode using # * c * after you are in run test command 66-10 This problem happens from you getting a bad fax mostly from noise or interference to the line. if it happens a lot to you then try getting a power filter with network and fax ports.

In 45 years I havenever seen a bad fax modem.....it's a noisy phone line problem.

I would take the fax machine to a different location and try with a different phone number.

Make sure its on standby auto not manual.

Somewhere in your fax defaults menus you should see "enable image".

However, some brands don't have that option available.

unpluge the scanner and pluge back reset the scanner setting to default factory setting then try.

Try just making a copy and see if you have the black lines on your copy (most fax machines have a basic copy function if it is you have dirty scan glass and on these small machines it is a real hassle to get too and clean Try Canned Air. If no black line on your copy it may be the recipients machine.

go to SHARP web site and do a pdf search for model specs.

you could probally download a manual from sharps web, but you need to turn destintive ring to on, menu, 0, 3 I think
