Driver required for HP laserjet 1018 with Applemac OS 10.4.10

Unfortunately, the 1018 is not supported in the mac environment.
Unless you are familiar with changing the source codes from linux to MAC I wouldn't attempt it.

The other option would be to set the printer up on a different machine as default and using a program like NETWORK MAGIC,
network the computers together and share the printer, Use the trial version first to see if it works.

Printer Problem

error occurred
1. Press CANCEL JOB to clear the print job from the printer memory.
2. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on.
3. Try printing a job from a different software application. If the job prints, go back to the first application and try printing a different file. (If the message only appears with a certain software application or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.)
4. If the message persists with different software applications and print jobs, disconnect all cables to the printer that connect it to the network or printer.
5. Turn the printer off.
6. Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in the lowest DIMM slot.)
7. Remove all EIO devices from the printer.
8. Turn the printer on.
9. If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each device.
10. Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error.
11. Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer.
12. If the error persists, replace the firmware DIMM.
13. Replace the formatter.

"Out of Paper" problem

Hi,
i,d suggest the paper sensor that you,ve disabled is suspect.
Alternatively, could be a cabling error.
Try a new printer cable, if this fails uninstall remove completely all software and printer, along with cabling. start computer/shutdown. re setup the whole printer as a new installation. if non of this works. Bin it and buy a new printer.
Finally if you,ve got standard windows 98. upgrade to 98se. might help.

I have an HP Deskjet F4180 (all in one) printer. The printer keeps kicking off line when not using it. Every time I go to use the printer I have to go through getting it back online (Pain in the tail)

that has to do with your settings. If you can access the setting on the printer you can change it to always on. Im not familiar with that printer but my okidata allows me to change it. you should be able to get into the setting by going to printers and faxes or start, control panel, printer & faxes. double click and find your printer. right click the icon and try going to properties and look in there for the option online/ offline. if not in there try printing preferences and check there. Hope this helps.
