Re: belkin router dont take ip
If your in vista, click on the network tab on the start menu, then it should show all of the devices connected to your network, if you see your router, left click it, there should be an option to view device webpage.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Are you saying you are trying to setup a wireless connection, even though you don't have internet? Impossible!
Normal setup - Connect the ISP modem to main uplink port on router. Then connect pc to any other port. Done!
Now connect PS3 as normal. Look for the Belkin network SSID and Key. There is a small piece of paper underneath the router with default ID and password key. It is also noted on Web Admin page. You can always use the reset to clear any custom settings.
Access point option is only for unsecured connection. Do not use.
First you need to know the access ADMIN Username and Password for your router? If you have the access then you can configure your router manually.
Identify what IP address of your gateway. >Start>CMD>IPCONFIG (check what IP address you have in gateway. use that ip address to access your router) example. >launch internet explorer then type the IP address into the address bar. >http://192.168.1.1
you will be redirected to a page will it asked for username and password. then you need to enter the information. if you dont know the admin un and pw contact your ISP. but most of the default UN and PW is Username: admin Password: admin
once you able to get into the GUI of your router then go to configuration for the PW to lock your network.
. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. Then set WAN settings as internet service provider settings enable DHCP. .Click on wireless and enabled it. Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
the only thing you need to do is reset your router to go the IP address original 192.168.2.1 because when you setup it as a access point the router change the Ip Address.
restore the router to factory default settings, please do the following:
1. Unplug the router's power supply 2. Press and hold the reset button on theback of the router 3. Keep the reset button depressed and, at the same time, plug the power supply back in 4. Keep the reset button depressed for another 10 seconds 5. Release the reset button
do this for 3 times and you will acces your router.
Hi Frederick, When you reset the modem all the setting become default. I mean all the configuration get erased. For the belkin the ip address is 192.168.2.1 The default user name is Admin and for password leave it blank. ok At times you will need to operate in the ip address to access the modem router I mean you will need to set your ip in the range 192.168.2.10 ok You need further assitance I am at your service Regards Uttam
I'm guessing that your laptops are using a wireless connection. If this is the case the first time you enter the wireless security key (password) it will be stored in the laptop so you don't need to enter it again.
To connect to the router, you need to open its associated web page which you will normally find by typing the routers IP address into the address bar in Internet Explorer. The usual default address for a Belkin router is 192.168.2.1.
Once you connect to the router you should be able to access all the security settings from the Belkins main menu.
If you cannot even ping the router IP address the next step that you can do here is to reset the router , To reset it press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds then after that try to ping the router again, if still not able to ping it, I will advcie you to call Belkin so they can wlak you through in checking this router and since its only about a year I think its still under warranty so they can still replace it incase the router is bad already....
-- what is the exact model number of your access point and router? -- what is the ip address of your access point and router? -- what is the operating system of your computer? -- Is your computer directly connected to the router? -- Do you have a wireless computer? what is the model number of the wireless adapter
if you want to configure your access point with your router you may try the ff:
Step 1: Connect the Ethernet port of the access point to one of the Ethernet ports of the router Step 2: Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet Step 3: Check if the corresponding LEDs on the access point are lit Step 4: After connecting the devices together, configure the access point’s wireless settings Step 5: Open the access point’s web-based setup page Step 6: When the access point’s web-based setup page opens, change the SSID, Channel, and Wireless Security.
