Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Get behind the tiller as if you are ready to use it. Look down towards the tines. There's a protective cover. Remove it and you will see the belt running vertically between the motor and the tines.

Drive belt is slipping when under load. How do you tighten the belt. thanks, Ted Troybilt Horse rear tine tiller

hi there, ive been doing a bit of head scratching over this one as i needed to check my facts. i think the belt has a automatic spring loaded adjuster so it sounds as if you need a new belt for it.
good luck

Need to see belt route for gilson bros. tiller

You did not state if it was a front or rear tine tiller. This is for the front tine tiller:

The rear belt has a 1/2 twist in it for reverse. The front belt goes on nomally.

If this does not help you I would like a model number if you can locate it so I can get your the proper routing diagram.

I need to find out what size belt for tine engagement on a Dayton 5hp Tiller model # 32885 C144B

a simple way to figure out the length is to engage the tine mechanism and take a string and wrap it around the pulleys mark it and take it to any belt store, and buy the Belt you need. You will need to know if it's a 3/8s or 1/2 inch drive belt. Normally tine belts are half inch or 5/8 wide on a 5 horse power motor, You can get these belts at sears or Nappa auto parts store. hope this helps.

I have an older (30 yrs) Ariens front tine rototiller. Over the past few times I've used it, I've noticed that the tines have started to turn even when I do not have the clutch engaged. It's to the point...

Your belts are grabbing, make sure they are loose when not holding clutch lever. Also make sure that the guide pins are close enough to hold the belt loose when not engaged, I have the same tiller I use now.tines cannot turn if belt is loose enough. Maybe you bought the wrong belts A verses V belt.

Help, new craftsman rear tine tiller stopped tilling.

It sounds like the belt just stretched. Now you need to move the belt tensioner over to put more pressure on it.
