Hi...just bought myself a second hand Homestyles sewing machine. F08-702-H-01...How do i thread the machine....thanks. The thread breaks before I get to thread it

Change thread. It sounds like your thread may be dry-rotted. Otherwise, it could need some cleaning. Do you have a manual?

Why the thread cracked with when i sticked with the machine

Thread breakage could occur for several reasons.

First, try a brand new needle.

Second, use only good quality thread--NOT old thread or bargain bin varieties.

Third, when threading the upper thread, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot throughout the threading process.

Verify that the thread path is correct (consult the owner's manual). Incorrect threading will usually break the thread.

Check that the upper thread tension is set at the midway point between the high & low numbers.

How do I thread my overlocker

If thread is breaking, it usually means it is threaded incorrectly--either you have missed a thread guide or have it looped somewhere it shouldn't be. The tension could also be too tight on that one thread.

RAISE the presser foot BEFORE threading!

Be sure you are threading each thread in the ORDER described in the owner's manual. Most machines are threaded in this order: 2nd thread from the right (upper looper), last thread on right (lower looper (this thread must cross over the top of the upper looper in the final step!!!), then the needles--but you must check your machine's manual for the correct order!

Confirm with your owner's manual that you are threading all the guides. If you miss one of the thread guides, your machine will most likely not operate.

Also, if you break a thread, it is strongly recommended that you remove ALL the threads and start over from the beginning. Sergers can be very finicky!

While sewing the thread keeps busting

Hello Rachel, Too much needle tension can cause the thread to break. Old thread becomes weak and breaks easier than new thread. Wrap some of your thread around your fingers on both hands and try to pull the thread apart. If it breaks easily, try some new thread.

Top thread keeps breaking, I've re-threaded to make sure it's right, wound and re-inserted a new bobbin, checked the needle to make sure it's not bent (as described in the manual) and put it back with flat...

Not sure if you noticed but if you thread a machine with the pressure foot down it will not thread correctly. There are two little things that sorta looks like symbols for the tension on most machines. (learned this when my viking 600e kept breaking thread and I put it in shop) If you thread the machine with the pressure foot down it closes the symbol things and the thread will break as you described. If you have completed that correctly check the spool of thread. You may have a burr on the thread spool that is catching the thread that too has happened to me.

My thread keeps breaking. I got this machine

Hi. I'm really glad to hear that you want to learn to sew! You're right to try to find a manual for your machine first, because your sewing machine is the most important piece of equipment you have.

You didn't say what model your Euro-Pro machine is and that's pretty important in order to find the right manual. See if there's a name plate somewhere on the machine with the model and serial number information.

I did find a manual for a Euro-Pro model 1260 at Relics: http://pages.sewing-machine-manuals.com/173/InventoryPage/1424422/1.html. Check it out and see if the drawing looks like your machine and the description sounds like yours.

Sew4less (http://www.sew4less.com/index.php) has a lot more Euro-Pro manuals, but no drawings or pictures.

I also found Euro-Pro manuals at http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/europro/europro_sewing_machine_product_list.html.

But this may be your best bet: http://www.euro-pro.com/europro/faqhelp.aspx They have an example of where to find the model number and then you can enter the model number to find the manual.

Since you're new to sewing but want to learn, here are a couple of websites that you might be useful:

http://www.sewing.org/

http://clothing-design.suite101.com/article.cfm/a_selection_of_simple_sewing_books_for_beginners

http://www.asg.org/ (American Sewing Guild)

http://www.sewing.com/index.html

http://sewing.patternreview.com/ (they have online classes!)

Have fun surfing--one will lead to another, I guarantee!

You can visit me at my sewing blog (www.robbiesews.blogspot.com), explore the links I have there and all my posts, and ask me anything about sewing.

Happy Sewing!

Machine is jamming

You need to remove the bobbin from the "race" by following the instructions in the manual. Give it a good clean and remove any bits of fluff and thread. Remove the upper thread also andmake sure that the tension wheel is clear of any broken threads and is on the correct setting. It may have been threaded wrong. The hand wheel not turning sounds like the bobbin area is jammed also.

Threading Memory Craft 8000

Hold the thread taut between your left hand and right hand. Pull it through #1(all these spots are numbered on your machine) and press down on the thread with your right index finger to guide the thread through #1. Keeping the thread taut, continue to pull the thread through the rest of the guides with your left hand until you reach the needle.
