Question about Toshiba Satellite M45-S265 Notebook

Keyboard every time my Toshiba Satellite M45-S265 experiences a jolt, bump, or the screen gets pushed, a window with Windows Media Player pops up, and the keyboard locks up. Then, when I try to type, every key I push acts as if the ALT key if pushed. For example, I push "f," while online, and it goes to File. Or if I try opening something on the desktop, the properties window open for that folder or app.

    M45-265 intermetantly acts like the alt key is stuck. I found a thread somewhere that addressed this very issue with this model but lost its location and can't find it again. One thing I remember is that it is not the keyboard but a weak solder connection. Glad to know if you found a fix.

    After I restart my computer from either A) a computer restart B) a hibernating state restart sometimes my whole upper keyboard stops working or pressing some keys makes my My Computer pop up or a search or something like that pop up. It is very frustrating to deal with while typing a paper! The keys that stop working are the letters Q - P. Hopefully this is good enough to help you try to solve my problem!

When I press the ON/OFF button on my Toshiba Satellite M45-S265 the computer will try for about two to three seconds to boot then shutdown. Pressing the ON/OFF key again repeats the same scenario. Sometimes if I wait for a few minutes then it would boot successfully. Any ideas?

also a frozen computer usually means that there is an issue with the reload or restore function

Re-seat your RAMs. Or, you may have a bad one or two. If you have two, remove one and try the install again. If it fails again, remove the current one and try the other.

Unfortunately I was unable to find a step by step guide for you, however I found a picture of the backside of your laptop. There should be only one screw to remove the cd rom drive located where the red arrow is pointing;

Simply remove that screw and pull out the drive :-)

Shine a torch into the monitor and see if the system has booted up, if so the back lighting is faulty and would advise a qualified notebook repairer.
