There could be two situations for you. For the wall outlet, you may have a four prong plug or a three prong plug. For a three prong plug the outlet has three prongs and the terminals inside match up with these prongs. The two slanted prongs on the top are the hot terminals and the red and black wires get connected to these (order doesn't matter but keep the wires matched up with the terminals on the same sides). The white wire is connected to the "L" shaped prong, the third lower prong. The bare copper wire is just bent out of the way. At the dryer for the three prong there will be three terminals 2 hot and one neutral. Usually, your dryer cord will have the neutral as the middle wire, but pay attention if your cord wires are color coded (where white will be your neutral wire). At the dryer there is a terminal which is connected to the frame of the dryer by a piece of metal. This is your neutral, connect your neutral wire from your cord up to this. The other two wires get connected to the other two terminals (order doesn't matter but keep the wires matched up with the terminals on the same sides). For the four prong its very similar but there is a small change, that bare copper wire is now used. The terminals on the wall outlet will line up with the prongs. The two vertical terminals on the left and right are your red and black wires. The "L" shaped prong is your white wire. Now the fourth prong, the one shaped like a semi circle is the terminal you connect that bare copper wire up to that is your ground. At the dryer for the cord (If its a four prong cord your wires should definitely be color coded). The terminal that had a connection to the dryer frame now will no longer have one. The terminal thats connected to the frame you connect the green wire to. The terminal that was connected to the "green wire terminal' is now the neutral terminal and your white wire gets connected to it. The other two terminals are where your connect your last two wires.

How to replace the motor on indesit idc75uk tumble dryer

Black Carbon is Not Good! This could be related to the Brushes on the motor and unless you are good at repairing a motor; I would advise getting a replacement. Write down the Make, Mod. and other details from the Motor label and look on line for a low cost replacement. To open the Dryer, just unscrew the back panel and look for the motor housing. In some cases, you may have to remove the Drum, pulley and/or drive belt. Be careful because the Metal Is Sharp and it can Cut your hands or Arms. The motor when exposed can be removed from the dryer housing by removing the screws/bolts and attached wire connections. Remember the order in witch you took it apart because that is way you put it back together. Remember the exact attachment of the electric wires prior to pulling them off of the motor (Red and Black/or White wires). These wires Must be reattached the exact way they were affixed at the factory. When done, replace the back panel and your done. I do hope you DISCONNECTED the Power Plug "FIRST"...Dah?

My wife started the dryer the other night and 15 min into the cycle we could smell something burning.we discovered that the electrical outlet got so hot that the dryer plug and wall outlet were melting.i...

The problem was not in the dryer, but it was a loose wire in the plug or the outlet...I have seen this happen many times.. the wire gets loose and then because of the poor connection it heats up and starts a fire...
Replace the outlet AND the plug!!

The dryer pulls a lot of current but it is not the problem...

Here is a tip that will help you with changing your dryer plug.

Older maytag dryer: rewiring help

If it is a usual door switch, it is simply OPEN or CLOSED (the switch im talking about ... not the door.) Translation, it doesnt make any difference. When the wires are connected in the switch, the machine thinks the door is closed. When they are apart, the machine thinks the door is open.

Make sense?

Two wires one switch it is a 'switch leg'

If I read this incorrectly, please tell me. (I answer the belt question all the time ... I usually remind people to be careful of the door switch ... )

Thanks for using

Positive comments always welcome.

Conia CCD4501 cloths dryer not blowing hot air anymore

If you can turn it on and have the door open, hold the door switch in and see if you have a glow from the heating element. If not, your element is broken. That is if it is an electric dryer. If it is a gas dryer you need to check the pilot light or the thermo sensor.

How to fit a belt on a tumble dryer

unplug the dryer,
220v is not fun
dryers are generic inside, regardless of maker
while you got it apart to replace the belt is a good time to clean out exhaust vent pipes and the squirrel cage fan, no lint, better air flow, less $$ to run
3cd9043.jpg the tensioner may push Up on the lower run.

  • open case, most front panels are removed including door, remember to disconnect door switch wires, set panel aside
  • pull drum out
  • check drum support rollers
  • check drum felts, bushes guides
  • locate tensioner pulley, belts have been known to pull them out of the mounting when it breaks, check , reinstall if out
  • pick up broken belt off floor of case
  • take belt to parts store and match it, despite the huge number of dryer models there are very few belts.
  • If any felts or rollers are worn, stuck, damaged take them too to the parts store, and replace in pairs, despite the huge number of dryer models there are very few rollers or felts
  • after ensuring rollers anf felts and bearings are serviceable, loop new belt around drum at the wear mark from prior installation, reinsert drum
  • loop new belt around motor pulley.
  • pull tensioner pulley against spring to end of motion
  • loop belt around tensioner pulley
  • allow tensioner to slowly move back by spring tension till the belt is taut
put front panel back on, plugging in door switch
plug in mains
dry clothes
takes longer to type than to do
