My ES6000 camcorder has a sticky surface - How can it stop?
My Digital ES6000 camcorder has had instances in the past of having to endure a somewhat warm environment from time to time in the past due to A/C problems in my home. I just got it out and it has a very sticky almost soft texture on all the soft grip surrounding the camera. How can I get it to stop being sticky? Is it safe to wash with a bit of soapy water? The sticky texture also leaves a stain on my hands. I sure would like to reverse and stop the stickyness. Please help. This was a very nice Hi8mm Camcorder.

the material of which it is made has come into contact with a solvent ( fly spray, hair spray, cleaner agent, nail polish remover ) and the molecular structure is breaking down
it will be difficult to stop the stickiness as you will have to seal the surface first
Did anyone have an answer to this? I have had the same problem. I like the opener, but the parts of the rubber surface that are not usually handled get quite sticky. Any thoughts on preventing this, or if not on removing the stickiness?

When touch switches become nonworking then mostly its cause of connecting flexible ribbon wires between LCD board and camcorder main board that got cracked so touch buttons signal does not go to camcorder system control. Need to replace that flexible wire by qualified camera tech.
Very rare cases I found touch buttons layer that is pasted and part of LCD becomes defective, do you see hard or deep scratch on LCD surface? if yes, then LCD screen will be replaced because touch button array is damaged. Thanks.
If surface gets "yucked" up the laser mechanism cannot see or read the data encoded on its surface. Try cleaning the surface with a wet paste made of baking soda and scrub it in good. It cleans without scratching the plastic surface coating. You have to get rid of the surface film that is causing the issue without scratching the plastic. Good luck!
Did you try with different tapes? light turr sound is always there in Rew/FF as the tape rotatets very fast.
If the head motor stops while spinning, the error will be detected and the unit needs resetting. also if the head is sticky, tape gets stuck on head and unit will stop. Try to clean the head with head cleaner and check.
Im not sure what your intermittant problem is But these camcorders and its almost every make that I know of, unless they stopped using them. Im talking about the small surface mounted panasonic capacitors that they have used for ever in camcorders and other smaller devices. They are called Pan. Caps and after a couple of years , they start to leak and make all sorts of complaints and problems, and after a while will even ruin the Printed circuit Boards as the chemicals inside the caps leak out and literally eat up the Printed circuit board traces. In a case like that the printed circuit boards have to be replace. In the past I did alot of the older sony analog and some digital camcorders and I had one camcorder I will never forget as it had 6 differant complaints , from veiwfinder to color to recording ,sound problems ect. I found a total of 58 bad capacitors in that puppy. I have also worked on several that had a really bad smell to them, and from experience you know that Printed circuit board is shot. Any sign of troubles and the camcorder should be taken into the repair shop asap. Also after not using a camcorder for a long period of time is when you will probably have most of your problems. Good Luck
